1997 Toyota T100 - Truck seems harger to start. I have always been able to start the truck with the turn of the key immediately. At first it appears to be only with a hot start, now it appears to be harder at all starting times. Truck has 130,000 miles, starter changed approx. 3 years ago, complete tune up approx. 6 years. Last oil changed I ran ZMax through oil and gas. When running the truck, ttuvk runs great. Any suggestions? Thanks Marie

Most likely the fuel pump is failing, the fuel pressure check valve is defective and the system loses pressure the long crank is due to this loss of fuel system pressure.

SOURCE: ''O/D OFF'' SIGNAL ON THE DASHBOARD

The O/D off means your overdrive is off. Have you accidently bumped it? It could be the start of a problem with electrical system. Usually a bad ground on your O/D may cause this. Intermitten problems are the hardest to track down and fix. Do you know what overdrive does? It's a gas savings device which cuts the engine's RPM's down by something like 1/3, like a 5th gear. That's why you are experiencing the jerking on the highway. Do you have an owners manual? If not a good place to look for one is at a local salvage yard, or online even. There may be something in there to explain this to you a little better than I did. I had a frien who had a simular problem. It turned out to be a bad fuse. It wasn't blown, it was broken, and it's element would jiggle around when he would hit bumps in the road. I don't know if this helped you, but it will give you place to start looking.

My truck is a 96 toyota t100.. The engine will turn over but not start.. Its not the battery no fuses are blown the only thing i could think of is the fuel pump any ideas?????

Have someone hold their ear to the gas tank filler tube with the cap off, while you turn the key to the "run" position. You don't need to turn the engine over. Just turn it to "run". The person at the cap should hear the fuel pump cut in and whir for 2 or 3 seconds and then stop. If there is nothing, you probably need a fuel pump.

1997 t100 6cyl. 4wd. went through phase of actually having to put into drive to start. then had to turn ignition and move shifter through all gears until it started. now nothing. indicator lights seem to...

the shifter linkage has become loose or shifted and not aligning properly, truck will only start in park or neutral.
the linkage needs to be realigned and repaired. this should be done at a professional level. the alignment is critical, if it is near shift point it can pop from park to reverse, or change gear suddenly causing an accident or transmission damage.

My 1995 toyota trucks key wont turn in the ignition.

make sure the tranny is in park and there is no pressure on the front tires. when you park and in a hurry you put the truck in park but not fully
push the shifter hard into park while turning the key, if no luck try turning the steering wheel in either direction to take any stress off the steering wheel lock. try these two things and see how it goes
