everything will more than likely need to be reprogrammed at the same time. contact a local locksmith that does automotive work. lock smiths are much cheaper and do just as good a job.
Mate I'm in Australia and I own a 2nd hand 2001 holden commodore which I had only 1 worn key, I went to a holden dealer with my registration and licence(to prove I owned the car). For a small fee they printed out my
BCM security number(to program my key fob
Car key number-Ignition(to cut key)
Radio security pin number and Radio serial number and I still have the print out in case I ever need it.... MAYBE YOU CAN DO THE SAME WHERE YOU ARE.....
First I would check with a different dealership. you will be required to provide only the VIN and probably some verification that you own the car, but the dealership can make a key and program it without the car even being there. I hope this helps.
Not sure about Chevy's, but when my husband lost his keys for his Ford, he got a new key programmed, and when he found his "lost" key, it still worked. Try it. Don't think it will hurt it if it doesn't work, but check with a dealer.
If you don't have an original key you are out of luck and will have to go to a dealership or locksmith to get them programed. If you still have one of your original keys you can reprogram the new ones yourself. Follow this link if you still have an old key.
you will have to get a dealer to cut new keys to code that dealers have access to and then get them to program to car but also erase old keys so vehicle wont start with old keys
or next more expensive option is new keys, ignition barrel and door barrels replaced which are differently same coded key and locks as well as programming and erasing old keys.
you can't start the vehicle without taking it in and having a new key programmed to it- you can have a key made- it will unlock it and turn in the ign. but will not start without programming- your ford dealer may be able to get the key code for the vehicle but most likely you'll also have to purchase a new ign. cylinder and have 2 keys made because it takes 2 keys to program after an erase. hope this helps, good luck
