1) Disconnect Negative Cable on Battery
2) Starters on right-side Close to Trans. Bell Housing
3) Remove the 2-Starter Bolts and Shim if it's
if it has shims.
4) Remove the wires off Solenoid: Mark Them:
5) Remove the Heat Gaurd Over top of Starter:
6) Take Starter on Out.

To Re-Install Reverse the Procedure that you Removed the Starter. NOTE: the Shims if there was any are only nessary if the Casting of the Starter is not Exactly or Close to The Original.

Be sure that All the Wires you Took off the Starter Solenoid are put Back on the Exact Same Terminal. And Snug them up .Be careful not to Over Tighten,:
Specs on Bolts Are :
Torque Starter Battery Cable Nut to 90 inch lbs
Torque Smaller ingnition wier nuts to 18 Inch Lbs
Torque the 2- Starter Mounting Bolts to 35 FOOT lbs.
Remember if your Old Starter Had Shims the New one MIGHT need Shims. All Starters Casting are just a Little Different. like by thousands of an inch. So if you have problems you might have to remove or add shims, they come in different sizes. Hope this has helped you,Please let me know how this solution Helped. Thank You: From d_hubbs

Where is a vent solenoid located on a 1999 chevy silverodo 1500 4x4 5.3l

It is on the starter itself. It has a copper stud that connects the two together. The starter is on the bottom passenger side where the motor and transmission come together.

Hope this helps! If so please check YES!

I need to put brakes in my 1995 Chevy picku 4x4. I need a manual and cant afford 40 bucks for it. How can I get directions to remove and install new brakes on all 4 wheels?

er,
Go to the "Reference section" of your public library and locate either the Chilton's or the Motor's manual fro your pickup. Don't need a library card. Photocopy the pages you need using the public copy machines there. The manuals have complete step-by-step instructions with illustrations.

Instructions to replace sheared off lugs / studs - 1997 Chevy

You can remove old lug by driving it out with a decent sized hammer. To re-install, push new one into flange from backside and stack washers on wheel side, leaving enough room for the lug nut to go on. (backwards...flat side in) Tighten the nut, pulling the lug into the flange, till it is flush (like the unbroken ones) I suggest that you put some lube on lug threads to prevent binding while doing this.

Chevy S10 Pickup Starter. Removed the two bolts

Just changed a starter in a 94 S10 4x4. The only way to remove the starter was to take the passenger side exhaust manifold off and bring the starter out that way. Installation the same in reverse. Hope this helps. Don
