Not to worry. Run the engine up to operating temp before jumping to conclusions and let the heat burn off any excess oil. A leaf will not do any damage.Do not let the engine overheat while idling and if the oil light comes on switch off immediately.
The smoke from the exhaust is oil deposited by oily assembly hands just burning off. It should dissipate after about 15 minutes at most.(or 5 miles' drive)

Testimonial: "yup kept running it and watching stopped smoking idle eventually smoothed out. only two problems left, bad o2 sensor (knew that before i started), and a high idle, ill worry about the high idle later. :)"

I have a NA 1994 Volvo 850. I have excessive pressure in the crankcase. Light smoke emits from dip stick when running and it is using an excessive amount of oil. I understand that this model does not have a PCV valve that could be clogged and I certainly don't want to think about a blown head gasket. What other direction should I look?

If white smoke than u may have damaged or not properly installed the head gasket and getting coolant into cylinders-blue smoke valves are not properly set or damaged allowing oil into cylinders - it takes some time for the coolant to reach op temp and open stat if reading cold after running awhile than possible when working on system damaged sensor wiring-- heat from exhaust is instant

850 1996 Volvo has black smoke coming from exhaust and wants to cut off while driving if this car was carbureted I would be checking the choke

Black smoke from the exhaust indicates oil in the gas. Your engine is to be treated (valve rings to be replaced/valves to be honed to the next repair size)

Exhaust manifold leak on a 97 volvo 850 with new gaskits

We always have the manifolds surface ground at a machine shop when we do these. The manifold will warp form heat cycling and needs to be flat to seal. Take it to a machine shop and they will now what to do.

Could water in engine oil be due to turbo charger failure white smoke emitting from exhaust and coolant is not holding in reservoir engine oil looks like chocolate milk would a turbocharger rebuild kit fix...

If your turbo has coolant passages for cooling then it is possible. Most likely the issue is failed head gasket. You need to do a compression check or a cylinder leak down test to rule out a failed head gasket.

Wite smok from exaust system. When starting some time wite smok and smell of burning oil. Some time do not smoking.Do not pick up from low speed fast. The engine is turbo and inter cooler

Smoke can be from rings worn out, cracked piston, valve guide seals if smokes at start up then stops, fueling issues if fuel is to rich but that smoke is usually black, also if head gasket is blown or head is cracked water burning turns into steam which looks like white smoke. This can also be why won't start just turns over.

I have a 1994 volvo 850 GLT. Radio reset code

You will need to turn the ignition to the number 1 position and turn the radio on. It can take several hours, but the word code should come back on. When that happens, you will need to put the correct code in. If you don't have it, a Volvo dealer can give you the correct code from your VIN.

1996 volvo 850 turbo smoke coming out exhaust

I assume you mean exessive smoke?
White smoke = watersteam - usually cracked cylinderhead gasket
Replace gasket
Black / dark smoke preferrably visible when accelerator is let up after acceleration = oil - usually enters the cylinders through worn valve seals.
Repclace seals (can be done without lifting cylinder head)
