The ABS system should be scanned to check where the problem is, however, the most common problem is in the control unit.

The unit is held onto the hydraulic unit with 4 hex head screws. There are 2 electrical connectors plugged into it. You can buy one from the dealer ($$$$) or send it in for repair to BBA reman. You can call them at 866-573-2740 or go to www.bba-reman.com. Good luck.

Ditto Mike. Volvo has lots of issues with this. The ABS/Tracs control module has solder joints that go bad in the control module 99% of the time it is the issue. Have the module repaired/replaced. 35 years working Volvo's professionally

Have Volvo V70 T5 1998.ABS light on speedometer not working

I would check to see if there is a fault code for a vehicle speed sensor (VSS), so you need to have the engine control system (known as the OBD2 control system)) module scanned for fault codes to see if the VSS has set a failure code.

ABS light comes on after you start driving the car and goes out again after you shut the car off

possible dirty/defective ABS wheel sensor, have the system checked with an OBD2 reader for error codes. It's free at autozone to have the ABS computer ran for the trouble code. Hopefully this helps!!

1998 Volvo V70 (112000 miles regularly services every 6 months). The ABS light keeps coming on. New sensors fitted but did not solve the problem. Also at low speed a loss of braking and a hideous noise...

You need more work than just replacing sensors. That hideous noise is the ABS system kicking in prematurely. Take it back to the place that installed the sensors, they didn't check the whole system.

2002 Volvo V70 automatic - emmison system light

This is probably a faulty Throttle Position Sensor - I had exactly the same problem.
Vovlo specialist hooked my ODBII to a code reader.

Best to get the throttle body cleaned at the same time they replace the TPS

All in £125 plus the dreaded VAT.

Hope this helps

Volvo V70 xc AWD '98 - fuel filter change

Brandonlo168,

The fuel filter can be located under the carpeted cargo storage floor at the rear of the wagon. Remove the four 10mm bolts, remove the cover. You will then see a removeable plate to the right just behind the rear passenger seat. Fuel filter can be seen through hole in hole. Replaced from underneath wagon. Be sure to make sure lines are fully inserted onto filter. Check for leaks. No smoking, extinguisher handy. Note arrow on filter for correct fuel flow.
