Power windows on golf in 1999 will not work after battery replace

Since changing the relay once fixed it, perhaps the problem is with the relay socket. Have you tried jiggling the relay to see if they will stop wiping? Perhaps there is a short behind or inside the socket.

My guess would be a fuse has blown, which has cut-off current to you windows and starter, and you didn't notice the latter until you shut off the car of course. Give the fusebox a quick check before making any assumptions.

Try replacing the fuse for your back windows or you might have to replace the electric motor that operates the back windows.

The control module is located at the driver side door panel. Each window has it's own regulator to control the movement. If it doesn't activate then check if the fuse is fine, then we know the relay has power to it. You then go and check the switch if any power reaches the switch, if it does, you check if voltage is present after the switch. If it does, you check if there is continuity in the wire harness to each regulator. This will isolate whether current is completely passing thru towards the window regulators.

Maybe fuse number 6 is blown (check lefthand side of steerning wheel where all teh fuses are located - you must open the door)

Fuse blown - look for the one with the key symbol it powers windows/locks/interior lights/sunroof operation. Then work out why it blows...could be anything on the circuit so check a lock isn't sticking on/off when operating the central locking.

the remotes can be reprogrammed using vag-com. if you have power windows go to control module 46 , comfort module. then go to adaptation(10), then use the number 0 on the screen. press "do it". now you either go back into adapation or, whre you entered you 0, enter 1. it will ask how many keys you want to adpat, select up to eight keys. Then "do it", now you have upto 30 seconds to push a single button all all remotes you want to program. There should be a beep after every remote is programmed. If your don't have power windows, your first step instead of 46 will be 35, central locking.

Do not attempt to replace Valve guides. You will damnage your cyl. head. Take it to a machine shop and have them do that.

And injectors are to be replaced when they no longer work. Their is no matinance sched. for injector replacement.
