You probably need to take it to the dealer to get the code. Unfortunately, they usually charge for it.

Radio shows "off" and will not accept code

Hello and welcome to FixYa!

As a first course of action, I strongly suggest that you remove the positive battery connector and let it sit for atleast 15mins. before reconnecting it. This will reset the system and can get it back to it's normal operation.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Need the code for the radio. the one that was given left in the manual when we bought the car used isn't correct.

you have to go to a mitsubishi dealer in your area, report your problem, supply in VIN number, and the dealer will call the appropriate people to get your radio code. They should have your code within a week and it will cost anywhere from $25-$45 to get the code. I know....sounds silly to have to pay for your own code, but thats just how it works. Happened to me. I removed my battery for more than a certain amount of time and it resets all radio functions, code necessary to power back on.

Hope this helps!!!!

Radio not accepting manufactur code.

If it is the correct code, you may have entered it a few times & locked the system. Either disconnect the battery & wait a minute & reconnect & retry, or pull the radio fuse & retry after waiting a minute & reinstalling.

Turn the radio off first and then disconnect the battery for 2 min then reconnect the battery. This should reset your radio and then you can eject your CD, and reset your stations and clock. Good luck

Need to know how to program the code in to my 1993 bmw 740 I

The BMW anti-theft radio circuitry is designed to essentially render your radio unsalable if it is stolen. If the radio is subsequently electrically reconnected, it will not operate until a five-digit security code assigned to your radio is entered. The anti-theft features and operation are as follows:

  1. After the ignition key is removed, the red "anti-theft" LED will continuously flash, drawing attention to this feature.
  2. Should anyone, such as a thief, touch any push-button on the radio after the key is removed, the anti-theft inscription will flash and a warning tone will sound for 5 minutes or until the ignition is turned ON .
  3. Should the voltage supply to the radio drop below 5 volts due to a dead battery, electrical repairs, or radio removal (such as theft), the radio will not function when voltage is restored. The word "code" will show in the display only.
  4. The proper 5-digit code shown on the TWO CARDS SUPPLIED TO YOU must then be entered (using the proper number radio push-button selectors in the bottom row) when the radio is on and the display shows "code". If the correct code is not entered in three successive tries , the radio will not accept entry until the radio has been left on for one hour with the ignition ON . IMPORTANT: When entering 5-digit code number, be sure to complete sequence number of that 5-digit code. For example: Code No. sequence is 43215 and you mistakenly enter 42 instead of 3, continue the code number sequence of 215 to complete that entry. The radio will not operate and "code" will reappear in the display. Re-enter the correct number sequence of 43215 and operation of the radio will continue. The likelihood of guessing the correct code is extremely remote. The radio is, therefore, unsalable to a thief. NOTE: If an audible beep is heard while entering the 5-digit code, STOP immediately ! Begin entering the code again, starting with the first number of the 5-digit code.
  5. The code card should be placed in your wallet, or with the vehicle title papers for security as deemed necessary by your individual needs.
  6. Should radio or electrical repairs become necessary, please give the repairing facility the radio code number. If you do not, only authorized BMW dealer personnel can obtain the code from BMW.
  7. Should you lose your code cards, contact the nearest BMW dealer who will then obtain your code from BMW. You may be charged for removal of the radio to ascertain the radio chassis number.
  8. WARNING: FOR YOUR PROTECTION, CODES WILL NOT BE GIVEN OUT TO ANYONE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES OTHER THAN AUTHORIZED BMW DEALER PERSONNEL AFTER PROOF OF VEHICLE OWNERSHIP AND PROPER IDENTIFICATION IS ESTABLISHED.
  9. Install the 2 enclosed warning decals in accordance with motor vehicle regulations.

I need the radio code for a recently purchased XJS Jaguar

As an anti-theft deterrent, Jaguar began installing radios at the end of the Series III era which required the input of a security code to enable the radio to function. While coded radios are a pain, our experience is that they have drastically reduced the radio theft rates in major cities like Atlanta.
When cars with coded radios were first sold, the owner received a pair of plastic cards, about the size of regular credit cards, listing the radio code. When used Jags trade hands, these cards are forgotten and usually are not passed on with the car. And then when the battery dies and is replaced, the radio insists upon being recoded before it will work again.
One tip is that the dealer technicians frequently would write the radio code under the hood of the car in marker. There are also reports that the radio code was on a paper label which was stuck to the underside of the hood when the radio was installed. So if you do not have your code, it is a good idea to look under the hood for the paper label or for a hand-written four or five digit number. You may get lucky; we have known owners who found their radio code in this manner.
To recode the radio once you have the code, turn the car’s ignition on and then turn the radio on until the word "code" is displayed on the radio faceplate. Enter the radio code slowly and deliberately, firmly pushing on each button. If you have entered the correct code, after the last numeral is entered the radio will beep and then begin to play on the last station selected. If the radio has been uncoded for a long time, or if power has been removed from the radio for a long time, sometimes you will be unable to enter what you know is the correct radio code. In these cases, leave the radio powered, with "code" displaying, for an hour or so and then try to reenter the code. The code will usually take after doing this.
It is not possible to guess at the radio code and to just keep trying combinations of numbers until stumbling on the correct code. The radio will accept only three coding attempts before it locks up for an hour. Then you have three more attempts before it locks up for eight hours, then three more tries before it locks up for 24 hours, and so on. The times indicated may not be accurate, but the process is correct as described.
If you cannot locate your radio code, either from the previous owner or from the car itself, the only way to get the security code is to pull the radio to retrieve the radio’s serial number and to request the code from your friendly Jaguar dealer. All dealers have the ability to retrieve these codes, although they will vary in their willingness to do so for individual owners.
