I have a 2005 Kia Spectra and the a/c has a wheezing sounds as I turn on the a/c to levels 1 -4. Now it is more of a thumping sound? Is that the fan motor about to go out? If so, can anyone advise me on how to replace it?

If you just replaceD the engine in your 2005 Kia Spectra, was the replacement engine a good one? It sounds to me like it's a starter or starter solenoid issue! Try "hot-wiring" the starter solenoid, to see if the engine cranks. All security systems are "low level" in terms of current control. But a DIRECT connection from a good battery to the starter solenoid should engage it, which should complete the circuit from the battery to the starter motor.
Yes, turn on your A/C your fans should come on. Check your fuses, and you can stright wire the fan, take 2 wires unplug it and run your new wires from each post on the battery to the wires at the fan. That will tell you if you have a good fan motor. If you think the fan motor is ok and good you will have to check the wiring to the fan and your water temp switch.
