1993 E-350 Ford Diesel. Problem starting in hot weather

The engine turns over but it won't start. This happens intermittenly approx. 2-3 times a week usually in hot weather. I lift the hood and wait approx. 5-15 minutes and then it starts. Any suggestions on what could be causing this problem? Thank you!

Possible connection but not sure: Light on the shift lever cycles on and off from time to time -- if slightly rev engine, it goes away.

does the check engine light come on or flash when the running issue starts? sounds like you have an ignition coil dropping out intermittenly.

Replaced fuel pump but it won't start it will crank but it won't start

when you have your hood up in the air can you hear the starter trying to make a clicking sound or no sound at all with the starter ? Starters also go bad too and some times it is intermitten some times as well. You can use a multimeter if you know how to use one that you can use one to test the starter red hot plug from the battery to it.
