1999 vw jetta 5-speed. went off the road and got stuck in a ditch. reverse would not work so i had it towed. car drives fine in forward gears but now reverse won't work. if clutch is held in certain...

At a guess the "off" bent something in the linkage or change cables. I suspect that selecting Reverse place the gears in partial mesh (not synchromech like the fwd gears) , and the "pop" is the gears falling out of mesh. Check that the engine mounts are not damaged.

20001 vw jetta tdi automatic transmission problem

Ok , so you got home , parked it and when you started it up the next day and shifted it into reverse... backed out... and went to shift into drive , it stayed in reverse ?
Have you checked to see that the cable has not disjoined itself from the shifter to the trans.?
Are you able to engage Park?

1999 vw jetta vr6 abs light stays on, but brakes work fine

the only way you will find this out is to have a diagnostic machine plugged in and the fault memory read to check what fault is logged, it could be anything from a ABS wheel speed sensor to a control module fault, to save money in the long run i would advise you get the fault memory read first. hope this helps

All my gears work fine but i wont go into reverse 1997 jetta

if your trans engages properly in fowards and not into reverarse then you have a worn clutch in the trans and the trans will need to be rebuilt
