Re: 1998 Grand Voyager: overhead lights on and off and...
Sounds like one of the door switches have come loose and causing it to earth out and activate the interior lights while driving which will also activate the chime.

Which overhead lights ? Just the dome lamps . If there is no door ajar light lit on the dash . There could be a problem with the G.E.M - Generic Electronic Module . You should have it check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes . Need a special scan tool ,a OBD2 code reader won't do it.
The courtesy lamps stay on continuously

You best bet mite be to have a Qualified repair shop diagnose this .
this problem is caused by a tiny micro switch that is attached to the door latch inside the doors, the stick and give this false warning, have replaced dozens of them, it is called the "door ajar" switch oddly enough :)
These are in the engine compartment, in the box near the battery. As I recall, dome light, clock and door ajar sensor share a fuse. Door locks fuse is separate. The fuses should be labeled on the box cover.
Have you tried replacing the plunger switches for the doors, if your lights are flickering and/or staying on they are probably going bad. You can pick them up at just about any parts store
I believe it's one of your relays too. There are a few relays under the glove box. If you can determine which one is clicking you can change it out and possibly solve your problem. Good luck...
slide the rubber boot up and check the wires in the hinge of the doors. I will bet anything that the wires are broken. that was what was wrong with mine. just splice them back together and everything should work fine.
