Fuel pump wiring for aftermarket GM fuel pumps

When replacing fuel pumps in chevy or gmc trucks and suv's the aftermarket fuel pumps come with new plug and wire connectors. Which requires you to cut off the old pigtail and connect the new pigtail to the vehicles wiring, the reason the manufacturers of the new fuel pumps did this is to fix problems with the old style connector that was on the factory unit.

truck cuts off while driving. I replaced the fuel pump a few months ago. if i wiggle the wire harness it will restart

I have seen this and took me a long time to figure it out. The problem I have found was inside the plug on the wiring harness to the fuel pump. You can't see it unless you take the plug apart and it may be corroded inside. I don't know if this is your problem but check to see if you have power there and wiggle the wiring to see if it cuts out. Hope this helps.

1995 gmc jimmy 4wd 4.3 vortec when hot dies and won"t start, replaced plugs wires cap rotor, oil pressure switch, camshaft and crankshaft sensors, ignition control module. still getting spark and over 60psi fuel pressure. holds steady after key is off.

The problem is either your fuel pump relay is overheating our your fuel pump is over heating. They also have the problem with the wire connector on top of the fuel pump melts. This is a known problem with them, when you but a new fuel pump they give you a new connector and a service bullentin regarding this problem.

i have a 1999 gmc 1500 with fuel module problems there are 2 pumps and i have the other pump. the differance looks like 1 of the plugs on top. i have the plug i would like to make work. they are both 4 wire plugs but the colors are not the same on my trucks harness .how should i wire this module?

hi, if you bought a new fuel pump assembly you are one of many who had problems with the connectors. so your not alone. the fuel pump manufacturers changed the plug configuration to solve a problem with the existing plug, the plug being replaced is the square plug on the left. the new pump assembly came with the new pigtail and you need to cut off the connector(close to the plug so you have enough wire) and ****-connect the new plug onto the trucks wires. the wires will be color coded to match the old wires, they maybe dirty and oily so you will probably have to clean them to tell the difference. also the pump should come with a diagram to help solve the wire problem.

1997 GMC Sierra 5.7 Vortec, replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, spider injector. Still not getting fuel past the spider. fuel pressure is 10 psi! What could be wrong

10psi is, as I'm sure you know, about 48psi short of what you need to get it running. Did you verify you're getting a full 12 volts at the fuel pump connector? Check the ground wire also, ohm it out to chassis ground, shouldn't be more then a few ohms. Verify it's making a good connection and the terminals are clean and tight. High resistance in the wiring or a connector in the circuit could cause the fuel pump to not output the right amount of pressure.
Did you replace the fuel pump with an aftermarket unit or an oem part?
