If it has a cable for clutch you need to adjust it. if its hydralic then the master cylinder may be not bleeding off properly when cold or slave sticks when cold. you need to measure pedal free play that is how far pedal goes down before resistance is felt there needs to be 1/2 to 1 inch or so free play to make sure that the release bearing isnt riding on the pressure plate [would be the same as riding the clutch] the 1/2 inch higher than brake pedal probem can be adjusted on the pedal stop but shouldnt be the problem. of course the clutch could be just plain worn out to.

Hi Mr. Rauscher.
As I understand if correct, and your vehicle is Manual Gearbox, most probably you might have slipping Clutch,if it is Automatic Gearbox again you might having slipping hydraulic clutches. Ask for a test drive from your mechanic

Will a chevy s-10 motor work in a 85 mitsubishi mighty max

Not without using the chevy transmission (and transfer case if it's a 4WD Mighty Max), Custom Motor Mounts, Custom Transmission Mount, Wiring Modifications, Driveshaft Modifications (either lengthened or shortened, depending on where the transmission or transfer case is located). Possibly shifter hole modifications (if it's a 5-Speed Manual), or Custom Linkage/Linkage Modifications (If it's an Automatic)

Burning smell whenever i pull off, go up steep hills or simply reverse up my drive

1) Check the brake pads all round. If a caliper is sticking (not retracting fully) then the pad will remain in contact with the disc rotor and gets very hot giving off burning smells. 2) If you have a manual transmission it could also be that your clutch is at the point of failing. A slipping clutch is indicated in gear the engine races irrespective of the the car accelerating along with a smell of burning.

Torque specs for mighty max

Per my Chilton's manual tehe bolts should be (cold engine) 65 to 72 FT. Pnds., the cam shaft bearing bolts should be 8x25 = 15 - 19 Ft pnds and the 8x65 should be 14 - 15 Ft Pnds.

The sequence is as follows for the (10 ) head bolts:

7 - 5 - 2 - 4 - 10

9 - 3 - 1 - 6 - 8

I hope this may help,
Tom
