I light lit on my car saying service engine. i got a diagnotics with a code p0463. what does that mean?

well what engine is there.
OBD2, USA, DTC error code, P0463 is a uSa federal code.

Fuel Level Sensor Circuit High Voltage Trouble Code Conditions:
The ignition is ON, with the engine running. The system voltage is between 9-16 volts.<<< (means alternator not dead )
The sensor output is greater than 2.9 volts. The above condition is present for greater than 30 seconds.

the sensor is inside the fuel tank.
OLD SKOOL: name, is fuel lever SENDER.
also makes fuel gauge work right and not lie.

Code 720 is for a problem with the speed sensor in the transmission. The sensor and circuit would need to be checked.
Code 463 is saying the signal from the gas tank sending unit is too high. The sending unit uses a resistor to send a signal back to the computer and the gas gauge. Again, the sending unit and the circuit would need to be checked out.

P0463 relates to circuit high input for fuel level sensor

P0700 Is a MIL request - control system for transmission

The light coming on indicates the your "on board diagnostics" determined there was a problem with the vehicle, there are numerous things that can make the light come on, you will have to take the vehicle to a place that has a scanner to pull the code.

The light is telling you there is a problem (gas gauge not functioning or what is causing the malfunction)Pull the codes to fix the problem instead of clearing the check engine light.

with the p0101 make sure you have a clean air filter. it can be bad spark plugs and or wires, or a leak in the air intake system

p0463 is a self diagnostic code that is for the fuel gage sending unit located inside the fuel tank if your fuel gage is reading empty just after you filled it then that verify's the code is correct you have a bad sending unit

You will not retrieve your codes without a scanner. If you take your vehicle to your local "autozone" store, they will scan it for you for free. After a scan they will give you the codes, and tell you what they mean.
