98 MERCURY SABLE. TURNS OVER BUT WON'T START.

The only engine I can find in any 95 Mercury is a 1.9L So here is the Timing alignment marks. Hope this helps you

check fuse, check for fire, if no fire when turning over probably busted timing belt/chain, if fire then check for fuel

I had the same issue with a 98 dodge diesel I got rid of the truck only to find out that if I would have gotten the seals on my fuel rail replaced it would have solved the problem. Apparently when ever I turned the truck off I was losing compression in the fuel system, good info a few months to late.

Check all wires running to battery. Check the battery ground(black) cable for sure. Make sure it is getting a good ground. If necessary unbolt the ground and clean up with a wire brush or wheel.

Make sure all of your timing marks are in the right spot. If not, then you won't get any spark. Hope this helps, James Booth

Sounds to me like it is out of time. Crank shaft sensor no.Good Luck.
