Car keeps stalling out along with reduced power and check engine

About 2 months ago I started getting a hesitation starting from idol almost a stall out. Last week my check engine light came on along with the reduced power light. The code came back a p1239. My mechanic took the throttle control unit apart and we found 3 of the 6 pivot plates lying inside the throttle control body. Luckily we found all 7 screws that were missing. After replacing them and putting everything back together both lights came back on within 5 minutes. Now when I come to a stop the engine dies all together unless I keep the rpms at 1500. Which is not an easy thing to do starting out at a stop light...... There is black smoke coming from the exaust when I accelerate and the cruise control stopped working as well.... What are your thoughts Thanks Bob

You did not id what year/make/model but it sounds a lot like a typical failure of the MAP

however, depending on your year/make/model the code could also be a sign of an power concern to your PCM, (powertrain control module) aka computer

2002 forester CEL on (EVAP Leak) and stalling at start?

If it were a large leak, the vehicle would idle fast, then the iac would reduce to stabilize the issue. We have had a few units needing the tank system smoked. Was this a part of the smoke job you received?? There is a bleed or purge valve in the rear which is hard to smoke and tell if it is defective. With out the entire values, it would be very difficult to diagnose over the net.
Good luck

My f-250 99 v 10th sputters when I accelerate sometimes stalls why?

it could be just about anything. first start by checking plugs, wires, and coil.Engine hesitation, which is normally most apparent during acceleration, is a condition that often results from either abnormal fuel flow to an engine or abnormal electrical conduction to a vehicle's spark plugs. Bad spark plug wires, whether they degrade internally or develop cracks and breaks in their outer coverings that cause electrical interference, can cause an engine to hesitate. Engine Surging, Engine surging is a common symptom of bad spark plug wires, especially if the wires have cracks or breaks in their outside insulation, heres the symtoms for a bad fuel filter. Engine Hesitation, Engine Stalling, Rough Engine Idle, Reduced Engine Power. if really plugged it will stop fuel flow and car will not start. just give it a good tuneup, and go from there! good-day!

Have a 1998 Chrysler Concorde with 134,000 miles. About 2 months ago it started stalling intermitently. Would stall and I could restart immediately. Now it stalls once every trip at a certain engine temp....

your car problem is overheating, some car model like yours is designed to shut-down engine when engine temp. rise so as to avoid frying the engine. your engine overheating problem is attributed by one of these factors:
1. check or refill radiator water if less
2.check radiator cooling fan operation-if damaged pls. change or check the electrical system.
3. damage/ worn water pump-if damage pls. change the water pump.
4. check for any coolant leak somewhere the coolant line-pls. rectify the leak.
5.worn coolant reservoir cap- change if damaged.
6. clogged radiator-if clogged pls. change it.
7. damaged thermostat valve.
