I own a 1999 altima & it won't start. It died a few weeks ago and we thought it was the alternator but when we looked it needed a belt replaced so we bought the belt & it started right up. I was driving it home & as I was stepping on the gas it was losing power. Didn't make any sounds, just died on the side of the freeway. Now it's home and we charge the battery and it only last 2 or 3 times to start it. So we get a jump & as soon as the cables come off, it dies. Any suggestions on where to start?

My 93 Altima will not start. I did the self diagnostic and got code 55?? It started a few weeks ago ran great for the weekend, got it to work and would not crank to go home.

Josh, Code 55 for your Altima simply means no faults were found/no malfunction. Do you mean car would not crank(engine not turning over) or did you mean engine will crank, but not start. I will post troubleshooting links to both conditions below. If not comfortable, have a good Technician look at it, diagnose and estimate repair.

My car driving it and all of a sudden it started jerking and then all the lights on the dash started blinking, then it went away, and then a little bit later it happened again

There are shops that can check the electrical system. It might be the alternator. You need to find a mechanic to do some measurements.

Hello u69men33, I am very sorry you're having problems, but, I do have a couple of thoughts.
My first thought is that you have a bad alternator. I say this because, once the engine is running the alternator output should be enough to keep the car running, even if the battery is weak.
My second thought is, and this seems less likely, your new battery doesn't have enough cranking amps for the make and model of your vehicle.
Many people are not aware that vehicles have a minimum cranking amp requirement for the battery that is determined by the equipment in the car. So, they just go and get a new battery that looks like it's about the same size.
A word to the wise, if you're not sure you got the right battery, call any parts store give them the year, make, and model of your car and have them look up what the minimum cranking amps should be, then, look on your battery to make sure it has atleast that many cranking amps. If the battery is new and has the right cranking amps, my money would be on a bad alternator.
I hope this info helps you.

Check alternator belt. Light is to show alternator working, not battery state.
If you have a volt meter check output is around 12.5 -14.5 volts when car running.

2003 BMW 325xi won't start, dashboard and radio go on.

My 2003 325xi died on the highway a few weeks ago, and I thought it was the battery. It turned out to be the alternator, which was an expensive problem to repair. If your battery is new, it could be the alternator, or a problem with the electrical system. I find the BMWs to be too complicated electrically, which often leads to problems! I'd check your alternator...
