What is causing the y12 transmission to be stuck in first gear?

2 TRANSMISSION REPLACED, GEE 1: USED,2: NEW3;REBUILT.
MOST USED BOXES ARE NO GOOD , SORRY BUT NOT GOOD.

NO CAR TOLD AND NONE ARE SOLD USA. HERE.
THIS IS WHAT I SEE. (JUST NO CAR TOLD)
SO SCANNING THE PCM(TCM) IS TO HARD? SCAN IT.!!!!!!
THE SHIFTER IS PRNDL,
SOME Y12 DID HAVE CVT BOX
YOU POSTED NO MODEL CAR AND THEN POSTED Y12
AND Y12 SERIES HAD 2 BOXES YOU FAILED TO TELL.
NO TOLD WHAT ENGINE YOU HAVE, OR YEAR???????????
4-speed E-ATx automatic (1.2/1.6 L)
JATCO XTRONIC CVT-M6 (1.5/1.8 L)

GENERIC NORMAL NOT CVT HORROR BOX ANSWER.

SO THERE ARE 3 SELECTIONS (ALL 3 FAIL) NOT TOLD THIS.
LOW,
REVERSE
AND DRIVE

SO ALL THOSE ARE STUCK ON FORWARD 1ST GEAR????
NOT TOLD THAT,
BUT IF IS TRUE THEN THE SHIFT LINKAGE ON THIS CAR IS BAD
BECAUSE REVERSE MUST WORK.AND REV MUST NOT MOVE CAR FORWARD , IF DOES SAY SO.

A/T BOXES ARE COMPLEX. AND SO 'ARE ALL TESTS DONE CORRECTLY.
THE SERVICE MANUAL IF YOU READ IT HAS ALL THE ON CAR CHECKS TO DO MY GUESS 2005 YEAR CAR.
Y12 BOX.
FLUID LEVELS GOOD, NOT LOOK LIKE TAR OR STINKS BURNT.
and dip stick ATF fluid to white paper not full of metal shinny dust? for sure seen on CVT box bad.

ENGINE IS NOT WEAK. (50 WAYS FOR ENGINES TOP FAIL AND BE WEAK OR DEAD) THE PCM (TCM) ONLY UPSHIFT IF ENGINE LOAD AND RPM AND ROAD SPEED ALLOW IT TO DO THAT)
IT IS PURELY ELECTRONICALLY SHIFTED, 1,2,3,4 UP
THE STALL TEST.
IN DRIVE OR IN LOW.
DO THE STALL TESTS, PER THE MANUAL
MY GUESS IS DOING THIS TEST ON CVT IS (NOT WISE)
CLASSIC SIMPLE TEST . A 3 TO 5 SECOND TEST MAX.
HAND BRAKE SET, HARD,
CAR POINTED IN A SAFE DIRECTION, NO KIDS THERE ?
NO CLIFFS (GRIN)
FOOT ON FLOOR BRAKE HARD.PRESSED AND HELD.

ENGINE RUNNING STOMP ON THE THROTTLE PEDAL
IN DRIVE.
HARD SEE RPM RISE, CAR WANTS TO MOVE, AND MAY HIT 3000 TO 3500 RPM THIS THE TC CLUTCH SLIPPING NOW.
AND IS PASSING THIS NOW.
END CLASSIC A/T TEST.

AND THE TC WILL GET HOT SO END THE TEST AT 3 SECONDS
THIS PROVES (MOSTLy ) ENGINE IS NOT WEAK.
IT DOES NO PROVE ROAD SPEED SENSORS WORK,
SCANNING THE PCM LEARNS THAT BUT FAILED TO DO SO)

AND PROVES CLUTCHES TC MAIN AND INSIDE FIRST GEAR CLUTCHES NOT BAD OR HUGE SLIPPING AND RPM GOES WILD TO 5000 RPM AND IF DOES ABORT THE TEST.

THIS IS ALL STANDARD TEST. ON ALL CARS A/T, NO NOT SURE ME ANY CVT BOX. (ID NEVER BUY ONE)

FUSES GOOD CABLES AND CONNECTORS GOOD
REVERSE WORKS AND

END WILD GUESS WHAT TRANSMISSION IS THERE
NO MODEL CAR, ir is a VAN
NO ENGINE TOLD
NO COUNTRY TOLD
NO TRANSMISSION MODEL TOld
not old is 2nd or3rd used, new or rebuilt wow not one clue.
NO Year car told 2005 to present sure. and a useless fact.
just vague y12,

all we know is this. and is no answer. a VAN.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_AD#Y12_series

the tcm shifts the transmission but CVT does not shift,. it just changes ratios on the 2 pulleys inside.(not via gears at all)

only planetary gear set a/t boxes shift! using clutch packs(modern)
yes CVT will have special gear set just for reverse.
that is it for no car and no transmission told
and is 100% all about all about

2006 Honda Accord (103k miles)- Transmission problems

You would need to have to put the car on a scanner. Most Honda solenoids are externally mounted on the transmission, so if there is a fault with one it is a fairly simple and inexpensive fix. However, you would need scan data to pinpoint problem most likely

Iam getting a delay of a few seconds whenever i shift between neutral and drive or neutral and reverse on my 2007 nissan tiida cvt transmission.

Have the oil changed and the filter checked . I have a Mitsubishi lancer and it is in good nick but If I apply power before the shift happens it chirps the tyres . have the bands and clutch pack adjusted Run fault codes to check for faulty solenoids and servos.

I just changed my honda element 2005 transmission fluid 2wks ago.I woke up this morning, start the car and put the gear stick to drive but the car will not move. What could be the problem? It is an...

You may need to find out if the transmission has a leak or is a cvt type of transmission. If the vehicle has a cvt transmission and the incorrect fluid type was used can cause major problems. You should contact the facility that performed your service. If the shop that performed your service used the wrong fluid type the liability falls to them for repairs unless you changed fluid because there was an issue already. If it was just maintenance to have serviced the tranny and this is end result definitely contact the repair facility.

My 98 Honda Accord Vtec 4cyl. eng is starting fine, but after start the idle dips a few times and regains for approx. 3min. If I drive without warming up the car will hesitate and the gas pedal will delay...

Seems like the coolant temperature sensor is giving the computer erroneous readings, and it is not adjusting the fuel mixture properly for cold engine operations. You should have the check engine light on, indicating this malfunction. The idle fluctuations are normal. The engine is trying to die, from the improper cold mixture, and the computer (ECM), recognizing low idle speed, is sending it back up. Another possibilty is that the butterfly on the throttle body is not closing completely, to allow richer mixture needed for cold starts.

1997 Mazda 626 (2.0 liter): The check engine or malfunction light came on and will not go off. Since this light came on, the heater/defrost will not blow warm air. Temp guage shows hot after car has been...

sounds like the head or head gasket is blown. your cylinders may be getting coolant in them which will not only cause the motor to lockup, but also cause bent rods and valves. check your oil dipstick and transmission dipstick to see if it looks like water or coolant is presant, also check the coolant to see if it smells like gas or has any kind of oil in it, if so, your head is likely blown.

I have a 1998 Civic HX 2DR as well and mine also takes a moment to engage when you press the gas. I don't know if this is normal or not? I just bought the car and I need to replace the trans fluid only because I don’t know if there is Honda oil or another brand in it. The CVT transmissions only can use Honda's CVT oil. There is a recommend alternative oil but based on the manual it’s only for temporary use until you can replace it with the Honda oil otherwise it will cause damage to the transmission over time.

Difficult to start again after warm up engine.

give the engine a minute or two to cool down before turning it off. This cool down period allows oil to circulate and cool down the bearings in the turbo. If you shut off the engine immediately after hard driving, the oil can gum up around the hot bearings and create problems down the road.
Hope this helps
