1998 Ford Ranger, 4WD, 4.0 V6 Car stalling duri...

1998 Ford Ranger 4WD 4.0 V6 Car stalling during stop and go traffic conditions in warm and hot weather conditions. During cool and cold temperatures issue is less prevalent. I replaced faulty thermostat which appeared to help a little. I understand that there is some wire that may get loose or that it might be the cps or some component in the ignition module. Another site said pcm module may need updated programming. Where do I start?

My 1996 ford ranger when it gets wArm it starts to die out and will not run

Ranger not ford f100 Ranger.
When did it last run perfectly, last week, last decade or? never seen it run right..
lots of causes over up to 50.
I gets warm means engine,or outside air? temps.

so the spark plugs are bad or fouled. replace those old HV spark wires now.
it's over heating? the engine.
bad fuel
the classic answer is
bad engine, bad spark, bad fueling , in that order
or is the cause (or EFI failing)<< sensor etc.
this USA car (if is ) can OBD2 scanned easy, scan it.
do you want us to guess,? only.
or do tests, will you buy test tools to solve this?
there are tests for each cause of failure.
die out we call stalling engine,
when it wants to stall, can the fast right foot save the stall?
I guess car engine starts and runs cold? every time?
ever get a turn up,

engines 1996, diagnosis is best done, knowing first what is there,

2.3 L OHC I4, Pito LL23 4 cylinder but 8 spark plugs, yes.
3.0 L Vulcan V6
4.0 L Cologne V6

so when dead, and warm dead, check for dead spark?
check engine compression above 150psi on all cylinders
check fuel pressure when dead./

How do I use the 4 wheel drive on my 1998 Ford explorer. It has a switch that can be turned to auto, 4 low, or 4 high

you can switch into and out of the auto or 4 high modes while moving.

If you want to use 4 low you must stop and place your transmission in neutral. While stopped, turn the switch to 4 low. To get out of 4 low, again stop and in neutral switch back to desired mode. DO NOT SWITCH TO 4 LOW WHILE MOVING!

My 98 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 318 in it will stall at stop streets only when it is at operating temp. When it is cold it will not stall. The Truck runs good down the road.

Sounds as if you may have a MAP sensor reading incorrectly when warm and causes the stalling. You may also have a vacuum leak that is not noticeable during warm up or while driving.

My Ford Ranger 2003 model V6 4 liter engine's speed limiter kicked in, the engine stuttered and died and won't start again. what is wrong?

Sounds like it's gone into limp mode at first. Then the fault has stopped the car. You need a code reader to check the fault, which will point you in the right direction. Could be a lot of things!

1998 Audi Quattro V6: changed battery this a.m. but now stalls at idle and shifts erratically. No power at all. Tried driving it for an hour to let ECM re-learn, but no luck. Thanks, Mike.

MOST OF THE TIME BEST TO LET DEALERSHIP REPROGRAM IDLE BECAUSE STALLING AND WAITING FOR CAR TO RELEARN TO IDLE.CAN BE DANGEROUS.FOR A CAR STALLING OUT AROUND MOVING TRAFFIC.

Stalling and getting hot

Clean the temperature sensor wire connector.
Replace the temp sensor.
Check the condition of the sensor wire cut(s) or short onto the engine block.
Monitor the fan operation with the hood open during warm up (0-15 minutes.) It should ran after the engine coolant temp get above 195F +.

Clean air filter. Air restriction will will make engine ran RICH and stall. It can also block the catalytic system is too much fuel pass though the cat.

Engine runs fine, no problem want's tempature is

I had a similar problem with a Ford Excursion, it turned out to be intake manifold gaskets. It would stall then start right up again, it ran fine during warm up. But, once fully warmed up it would stall at stop lights and stuff like that. I did get a check engine light, the code was lean condition. I don't know on a Jeep, sorry I can't be of more help.

Car almost stops when i move it

If your car has an automatic transmission, its very likely that torque convertor clutch switch may not be working properly and is causing your engine to stall at low speeds and during braking.have your trans checked out by a pro and verify the condition
