There is no external fuel filter for this car. It is actually a fuel pump and filter assembly located in the top of the fuel tank. The genuine part number for the complete assembly is 30792725. It will also need the O'ring that sits below the assembly part number 8638939. This is straight from the Volvo Vida information... Hope This Helps.

Yes,the main fuel filter is located below the car on the driver side by gas tank, or in the engine compartment by the firewall on the driver side and below brake master cylinder.
The following pictures are showing the location of fuel filter .

Look down where the white circle is and you will see a black round casing with a 32mm (i think) nut on it. It helps to remove the air intake hose in front of the white circle for easier access.

SOURCE: Where is the fuel filter in a Volvo S40 2005

Yes that is correct. The only filter is inside the fuel tank, and as I recall its a non exchangeable filter. It just gets replaced with the fuel pump when it goes bad

Under the intake manifold, behind the air cleaner intake hose (you must remove the hose).

under the hood towards the front of the car there is a rectangular cover, with 2 phillips screws holding it down. take out the 2 screws then you have to yank up on the cover cuz its usually pretty tight. then viola you have an airfilter

Have a 2.4i volvo s40 2005 lost power coming off a roundabout and wouldn,t start again had it towed home and friend plugged in a diagnostic computer and came up with code PA0089 fuel pressure problem does...

This is not always the problem. Have you changed the fuel filter, checked the relay, and checked the gas cap(This keeps the fuel tank under pressure). try these first, and hopefully this is it. hope this helps

Fuel filter location

Hello jazief1: My name is Roger and I will help you. Volvo has done what GM and chrysler have done. They eliminated the fuel filter . They do not require a filter replacement as the only stainer is now part of the fuel pump module. The only way to replace this filter is to replace the fuel pump module assembly. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

My volvo s40 t5 2005 is suddenly losing power as if running out of petrol, then power kicks in again. computers at volvo pick nothing up..scary..as i never know when it is going to happen.

if computers arent picking anything up its not an electrical fault, sounds like your surging because of bad fuel or blocked injectors, run some fuel cleaner through the car and see if that makes a difference. fuel filters may need to be changed but try the cleaner first.

Message Light - S40 Volvo

unhook possitive post on battery....wait and then reconnect...this usually works...make sure fuel cap is always tight and never leave car running while refueling. this causes 85% of engine lights coming on

2005 Volvo S40 T5 is losing power while driving then suddenly regaining power. This happens over and over again.

had this problem as well.. check the oxygen sensor on it (sometimes critters like that wire) or like shel said dirty injectors or filters could be it.. bad gas is also another one... dont go to places with old tanks or that is really cheap, run at least 91

Check engine light is on. OBD reads p0191 &

Replacement of the fuel pump would be the case here, unless the fuel filter needs to be changed. To find out, remove the fuel filter, and blow threw it with your mouth, kinda tast bad but it will tell you if the fuel filter is restricted. You should be able to blow threw it easy.
