ETS is your electronic traction control system... that would not make the car cut off. Check battery voltage, alternator output voltage (autozone can do this for you) and fuel pressure (cutting off may be a bad fuel pump / filter )
While I'm not overly familiar with Mercedes, I'd assume that it still has a brake light switch located on the bar of the brake pedal itself. This switch is typically just a "plunger" style switch, where when you push the pedal down as if applying the brakes, the plunger extends outward turning the brake lights on. When the pedal is released, as if letting off the brakes, the plunger is depressed causing the lights to shut off. If that plunger gets stuck in a depressed position, the lights will remain off at all times. Check that first, along with the brake light fuse and/or relay. Good luck.
you may not be avail to disable, actually let me re-frame that, when the light is on the system is disable, limp mode.
is hard to do with out a scanner, but if you have one, replace your brake switch, and reset the light. the brake switch controls the ASR/ BAS/ STABILITY CONTROL/ THE CRIUSE CONTROL. CHANGE IT WILL FIX YOUR CAR.
Have your brake pads and rotors checked if you have worn pads this will activate the ABS Antilock Braking System light. The ETS Electronic Traction System uses this ABS to prevent skidding if the tires should lose traction.
It is imperative that you loosen the caliper bleed screw BEFORE you push the piston back into the caliper. Failure to do so WILL damage the ABS hydraulics.
To my understanding: BAS ESP - Electronic Stability Program (keeps you moving in the direction you intended the vehicle to go); probably a faulty brake switch or a bad brake sensor. You may want to reference this forum for additional insights; ETS - Electronic Traction System (keeps you moving); would require an appropriate code reader to diagnose and pinpoint problem.Surprisingly, there has been some reports of defective brake pedal switch that activates this warning. You may lilkewise want to reference this forum for additional insights.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
