2004 Pontiac Grand Am GT Headlight Bulb Changing

I need to know how to remove the front headlight housings in order to change the bulbs. There are two bolts on top of the assemblies and I can remove the plastic fairing around the assembly but cannot find what is holding the assemblies in the car.

You have to remove the marker/signal light assemblies by prying them forward, careful of the paint, they are held on by clips

Changing low beam bulb

depending on which side it is either the battery box asembly or the air cleaner assembly has to be removed to get to the wire keeper that holds the headlight bulb assembly in the rear of the headlight housing. then release the wire keeper and the bulb assembly comes out of the rear of the headlight housing and you can change the bulb. do not touch the glass part of the new bulb assembly, only handle the metal part of the new bulb assembly.

Trying to change headlight bulb

Hello,

The 2004 grand prix pontiac houses 2 headlight bulbs per headlight assembly. The low beam headlight are located at the fender of the car and the high beam on the grill side of the assembly.

To replace the headlight bulb of Your pontiac grand prix, 2004 model. It is qiute technical and moderately easy to fix. There is no solution that cannot be done the DIY way, as long as You get the proper guide and You are technically able to do such works.
  1. Park the Grand Prix on a flat surface, apply the parking brake and ensure both the engine and headlight switches are off.
  2. Open the hood and approach the headlight assembly with the faulty headlight bulb.
  3. Locate the headlight assembly retaining clip. It's behind the headlight assembly on top on the fender side. Lift the clip upward halfway to release the headlight assembly.
  4. Pull the assembly out being careful not to scratch the paint on the fender or the lens of the assembly.
  5. Reach behind the assembly and disconnect the wire connection and plug from the headlight bulb socket.
  6. Turn the socket of the bulb counterclockwise 1/4-turn to remove the composite bulb from the assembly. Discard the bulb.
  7. Install the replacement bulb into the assembly (handling the plastic socket part only oil in skin will damage the glass bulb of halogen bulbs because of the intense heat they burn at), but ensure the tabs of the socket end of the bulb are aligned with the notches in the assembly before turning it clockwise and locking the bulb into place.
  8. Plug the wire connection back into the socket of the bulb before replacing the assembly back into place and pushing down on the retaining clip. Test the headlight bulb for operation before closing the hood.
Hope this was helpful. Thank You for using FixYa!!!

Headlight bulb size for a 2002 grand prix

You need a 9007 bulb

In order to change the bulb, just loosen/remove the two bolts holding the entire light assembly in (side marker, headlight and turn signal) Once these bolts are removed the entire assembly will shift / slide out away from the center of the vehicle. Once the assembly is removed you will have access to the wires/bulb.

1999 pontiac grand am headlight glass is foggy-how do I clean it?

You can use a product called goof off or a bug abd tar remover to get the area clean. To change your light bulb you can open your hood and between the radiator and the front end assembly see the back of the light socket. Turn it to the right and it should release. Make sure when you replace the new bulb not to touch the bulb in anyway with grease from your hand or dirt this will case the halogen bulb to burn out. So once you have replaced this just repeat the steps to reinstall.
