There is a coolant reservoir on the driver side of the engine compartment. You just need to take the cap off and add coolant to the max lever when the car is cold. Never open it with the engine hot. Then you need to use the coolant type G12. You won't find it anywhere else but directly from the dealer. Its very important to use the this type of coolant so you dont damage any component of your cooling system. You're be paying about $17.50 per galon of G12 or price may be different depending of which state you're at.

So far since VW started using phosphate free coolant (pink or red), I haven't seen the need to flush it. This depends whether it was mixed with tap water or other coolant. Anyway, there is a drain valve at the bottom left side of the radiator along the lower hose. Just turn it lefty lucy. Just make sure it isn't hot and pressurized or it will scald you, so open the reservoir cap first before you attempt on opening the valve.
NOTE: Make sure you use only VW G12 coolant and if you need to mix water, the best is filtered drinking water (reverse osmosis), not bottled but something like Brita.
Hi, You can use the Red or Pink Volkswagen Anti-freeze coolant to top up your car's needs. But please make sure that you do not mix it up with Blue or Green colored coolants which are used for Volkswagen models of 1997 and 2003 respectively. Thanks for using Fix-Ya!. There are two coolant temp sensors. One by the oil filler tube and one near the bottom radiator hose near the radiator. When you flushed the coolant did you replace with VW rated G12 coloant? Very Important! - You can't use over the counter coolant - it'll cause sludge in your system. You have to use G12...
The overflow container marked coolant. Make sure you do not mix antifreeze...very important....place the vw reccomended and you will save lot of money in the long run. If mixed you could have a chemical reaction in resulting clogging of the heater core and no heat...expense of an exess of $1000.00 to repair vs an additional $9.0 extra for the g12 antifreeze..prestone all purpose is probably $$11.00..good luck
