There should be a coil pack for each spark plug so you should have 6 in total, 3 each side. If the coil packs are numbered that number will most likely refer to the cylinder it is for. Coil pack Number 1 is for Cylinder 1, Coil pack Number 2 is for Cylinder 2 and so on.
The cylinders are numbered like this. Stand with the engine beltsand pulleys nearest to you. The RIGHT side of the engine is the ODD numbers and the LEFT side of the engine is the EVEN numbers.
Number 1 is the cylinder nearest to you on the Right side. Number 3 is the middle cylinder on the Right and cylinder Number 5 is the one on the Right that is furthest away from you.
The LEFT side is number 2 nearest to you, Number 4 in the middle and number 6 furthest away from you.
the cylinder # 1 is at front exhaust side firing order 1342 front coil to left side(intake) rear coil to right side (exhaust) check the numbers at the coils.
STANDING IN FRONT OF ENGINE FACING CRANKSHAFT.CYLINDERS ON LEFT SIDE ENGINE 1 3 5 AND CYLINDERS ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ENGINE ON DRIVER SIDE IS 2 4 6 GET PIECE PAPER WRITE NUMBER 5 3 1 AND UNDER THAT NUMBER WRITE NUMBER 2 6 4 THATS COIL PLUGS WIRES LOCATION HOLDING THAT PIECE OF PAPER FACING FRONT OF ENGINE IS PLUG WIRES LOCATION ON IGNITION COILS TO ENGINE SPARK PLUGS. First, look at the coils see if the towers are numbered. Each coil fires 2 cylinders!
look on intake manifold for fireing order display! The v6 engine fires from one bank across to the other in a straight line example, cylinders 1&2 3&4 and 5&6 at the rear of the engine or farthest right side. 1&2 left side faceing engine 3&4 in the middle. All you need to do is find cylinder # 1 hook up the # 1 wire to the # 1 coil tower to the # 1 plug or cylinder, follow the fireing order 123456,its simple if you cant see coil tower numbers look at another car with same engine that has distributor less ignition. The coil pack for the 4 cylinder gm has plug wire terminals or towers numbered as well.Only in a harder place to see like behind and underneath!
The coil packs are numbered 1-4,5-2,3-6.The firing order is 1-6-5-4-3-2.The 1-3-5.cylinders are in front and the 2-4-6 are in the back. There are 2 types of coils.Type 1 the coils are all in one pack.A complete system.Type 2 the coils can be replaced separately.(ie.)1-4 are separate and 2-5 so on.Good luck.
Hello. Here is the order of things for your truck. The engine firing order for either 4.6L or 5.4L V8 is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8. Cylinders are numbered, 1-2-3-4 on the passenger side bank of cylinders beginning at the front of the engine. Cylinders are numbered, 5-6-7-8 on the driver side bank again, beginning from the front of the engine to the back. Soooooooo the number 6 is the second one from the front of the engine on the drivers side.
