usually an O2 code is 3 digits and not this type of code. if it has an mass air flow sensor(MAF) it could be it. I would start with checking the MAF readings then the O2 readings. OBD 2 codes are emission regulated so no matter what car it is the codes represent the same problem.
code p0032refers to heated oxygen sensor(HO2S) 1 bank 1-heater control--circuit high===causes --wiring short to positive--HO2S sensor--ECM
code p0038 refers to heated oxygen sensor(HO2S) 2 bank1 heater control --circuit high===causes --wiring shorted to positive --HO2S---ECM
It is most important that when installing /removing the sensor that the correct tool is used to prevent damage to the wiring for the sensors. Severely twisting the wires during installation/ removal will result in the causes for failure listed.
This code is not uncommon with the X-Type, a dealer will recommend replacing the Cat. very expensive. get a 1" spark plug extender and drill a 1/2 hole through it and screw it into the lower O2 sensor hole for bank 2 (rear of the engine) and then screw the O2 sensor into it, reset the code and you should be all set.
The code is for the heater in the O2 sensor bank one sensor two. That would be the sensor after the catalytic converter on bank one. It could be the sensor itself or the power supply for the heater.
Oxygen sensors are always numbered like this:
Bank 1 sensor 1
Bank 2 sensor 1
Bank 1 sensor 2
Bank 2 sensor 2
Some manufacturers use a kind of shorthand that reads different, but means the same thing:
Sensor 1/1 or O2s 1/1
Sensor 2/1 or O2s 2/1
Sensor 1/2 or O2s 1/2
Sensor 2/2 or O2s 2/2
Bank 1 is always the side of the engine where cylinder number 1 is located and, of coarse, Bank 2 is the opposite side.
On a 4 cylinder engine, there is only 1 bank and it is always referred to as Bank 1.
Sensor 1 is always the upstream sensor (The one located BEFORE the catalytic converter)
Sensor 2 is always the downstream sensor (the one that is located AFTER the catalytic converter.
