Go to DenLors Tools.com and order the "ASTTOY640" It's 29 dollars, but it fits like a glove and works well. Threads ARE NOT left-handed. Just take off counter clockwise.

BTW, if the Toyota dealership changed the oil last, then expect it to be very very tight. Be careful and make sure the filter wrench/ socket is straight on the filter housing. Toyota will do anything to get you to come in for an oil change.

Instead of checking with toyota for a part like this, contact ur local dealer. they always keep such spare parts.

How to do a oil change

Pull the drain plug, change the oil filter, replace the drain plug. Add oil until the dipstick reads full. Start the engine and make sure the oil light goes out. Check for leaks around the oil filter with the car running. Recheck the oil level, add as necessary. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Cannot remove oil filter toyota pickup

As a last resort, yeah, a screwdriver. What about a strap-type remover? Large channel-lock pliers? Make sure not to over-tighten new filter. Good luck.

Where is the oil filter located on 2006 scion xa

The oil filter is right next to the oil pan, towards the front bumper. Use a 14mm wrench to remove the oil drain bolt. It takes 3.8L of oil. It's not too difficult. Just get a pan, a filter-wrench (it looks like a hoop with a handle), a funnel, a new filter, and oil. Try not to make too much of a mess.

What size socket to remove oil filter cannister from a 2009 Toyota Highlander?

K-D Tools 3253 End Cap Oil Filter Wrench This is a comment for this filter wrench I found on amazon.com here is the link-----The following is not my comment, but hopefully it'll help you.

http://www.amazon.com/K-D-Tools-3253-Filter-Wrench/dp/B0002SR4AY/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

I bought this tool to remove the filter housing on my 2009 Toyota Highlander 4-cyl. The filter housing seems to be made out of some composite material and I did not want to grab it with the pliers-type oil filter wrench. K-D Tools 3253 end cap wrench fit the housing perfectly and made the removal and the installation of the filter housing easy.

Were do i find my oil filter on my 2008 scion xd

Scion XD's are of a choice few that uses a Drop in filter as opposed to screw on types.

The filter housing is on the passenger side of the oil pan. The filter housing unscrews counter clockwise. Just put an oil pan underneath to catch the little bit of oil that leaks out. Pull the filter element out of the cartridge housing. Put the new filter element into the housing, remove the old O-ring on the filter housing, replace the O-ring on the filter element housing that is provided with the "new" filter element. It's always a good idea to lightly coat that new O-ring with motor oil before putting it on the housing, providing a better seal. Then with the new O-ring and filter element installed in the filter housing, just screw it on clockwise. It's really not much different than the old style screw-on type filters. The only place, so far, that sells the Xd element that I am aware of is Toyota. They are about $6 a piece. On a difficulty scale of 1 -10, I would declare this a (1.5). (1) being a regular screw-on type filter, and (1.5) for the cartridge type filter on the Xd.

Were is the oil filter on my scion xd 2008

2008 Scion xD oil filter is a cartridge (element only) type. It is located under a heavy, black plastic cap right next to the oil drain plug. To remove the cap, you will need a Toyota "Special Service Tool" or an Assenmacher Specialty Tools "TOY640" or similar cap wrench. Toyota is the only source for the oil filter element; make sure you get a new o-ring (should be in the box with the filter element) and a new drain plug gasket.

How do you get the oil filter cap off to change the element?

I'm not sure why everybody is going to the oil filter canister system. Doesn't make my job at work easier.
You'll need this tool here: TOY640

Any other tool will crack the cap and make life go bad after that.

Good luck, Mike.
