Some cars have 2 marks on the dipstick, one for hot, one for cold, If you have the one mark, it is for hot, and in park. The dipstick hole is the filler. Get the right transmission fluid and a long funnel. Hope this helps.

What is the dip stick fluid level called to check the manual transmission fluid in a 2008 Jeep compass?

A manual transmission issues takes gear oil and the fill plug is usually located on the side of the gear box underneath the vehicle. I would check you clutch fluid in your slave cylinder

Foamy transmission fluid on a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. What is the cause? I have checked both the radiator and the transmission fluid for signs of coolant and fluid mixing. I found no signs.

foaming transmission oil is normally from incorrect oil level in transmission
check the level -hot, running and in drive
ensure somebody has their foot on the brake while carrying out the check

Transmission dip stick keeps popping out

check trans. fluid level per owners manual. The high operating temperatures cause fluid to expand greatly,an over-filled transmission can actually force excess fluid out of the dip stick tube.check level with trans. hot, engine running in park on a level surface. After driving, place shifter in park, hold brake and move shifter through all gears and back to park.remove dipstick, wipe clean,re-insert and check fluid level.normally, trans fluid & filter should be changed +/- 100 k miles

95 jeep wrangler stuck in gear

Here are a few things that need to be check out to solve your issue. Check to make sure that your clutch is completely disengaging. You could have loose or damaged shift links. Transmission oil is low or you have none.( Manual transmission use DOT3 brake fluid for lube). Check to make sure there isn't any water or debris in the transmission fluid.Check the striking rod for damage. Gear is sticking or jammed.

1999 jeep will shift first 2 gears but when it is time to go into overdrive the transmission jerks and it goes into limp mode and check engine light comes on 8 cylinder, automatic

Check your transmission fluid level to make sure the appropriate amount of fluid is in. Some transmissions will **** or cut the vechicle off if not enough fluid is in the transmission.

How do I refill my TRansmission Fluid?

There is no reservoir...fluid is added right into the tube for the dipstick with a funnel.

!995 jeep gr cherk. transmission fluid. add hot

Its best to add while all is hot..
Leave it runing in park while adding fluid..
Put a little at a time and keep checking being careful not to over fill..
The dipstick mesures in pints - not quarts..

Rate well ;o)

Jeep Wrangler 1998 straight drive has difficult times going into reverse gear. I don't drive it every day, usually towing it behind my RV. It seems better when I drive it more, but is still difficult to...

if this is a 5 speed manual transmission...all you need to do before putting your jeep into reverese is puting it into first gear and then shifting it to reverse to avoid any grinding or problems shifting into reverse...this isn't a problem just a poor jeep design by not installing an extra gear to eliminate this grinding or shifting problem

Transmission not working when hot

well sounds pretty bad, did it start slipping before all of this and gradually get worst? anyways when this happens the cheapest diagnostic fix is pull all of the bolts on the bottom of the tranny to dran all the fluid, not sure if this tranny has a filter but pretty positive it does, pop a new filter in there you will see it when you you drop the pan, let all fluid drain and refill with the specific type of tranny fluid it calls from you can find the quanity and type from the auto store when you get the parts, substitute one of the quarts with lucas stop slip and hopefully it will bring the tranny out of it. otherwise your bands are shot and need a rebuild/tranny replacement. good luck and take care
