Question about 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse

I'm locked out of my Eclipse Stereo!

My husband was installing a boost gauge & A/F gauge in our 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T & left the battery disconnected for over 2 hours... Now we are not able to use our stereo. We do not know the code since we bought it from a private seller who was not the 1st owner. We have tried all kinds of different codes.... We do not have money to pay Mitsubishi to get the code. Is there something I can do to reset it or a wire I can snip so it will bypass having to enter the code? I really miss my stereo & I would appreciate the help. Thanks!!!

The dealer will not give me the code unless I pay for it. They want $140 to pull the stereo & get the serial # & put it in their computer. $50 if I pull the stereo myself just so they can put it in their computer.

Go to the dealer and give them your VIN#. They will give you the code.

Pull the radio yourself and try another dealer. They don't charge to look it up. Something wrong with the dealer you went to

or 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 2.4 liter SOHC L4

Fuel pump/motor fuse keeps blowing

well it has to be a short to power , pinched wire ,screw installed through fuel pump harness, bad connector or excessive current draw , where are the wires you jiggled be a good place to inspect

No gauges and van won't start

ypu could have tripped the anti theft alarm and when you boosted it probably blew a fuse

It appears that there might be a TSB (technical service bulletin) issued on this vehicle by Mitsubishi. Check with your local dealer to verify for certain. One link with brief summary of this on a 1998 model (yours might fall into this class too?) can be seen here and is as follows:

1990 eclipse gs turbo starts & idles wont go past 2500rpms

have you checked your vacuum lines and also mybe your throttle possition sensorthats where i would start oh and is your waste gate opening blow off valve working 14 pounds is ok for a stock eclipse but i wouldnt hold it at that for to long and how is your exhaust flowing?

It's going to be hard to pinpoint that - with age and time, the wastegate and related parts can start to wear out, so that may need to be repositioned to keep the proper boost level. I know your car comes with a boost gauge, but do you have an aftermarket one? They're much better - the OEM boost gauge is not accurate enough to do much other than tell you whether you're in boost or vacuum. With an aftermarket gauge, you'll know what pressure you're actually making. With that, you can tweak the nut so that the wastegate opens at the proper point. Or you could get an electronic boost controller (used GReddy PRofec II units are available on eBay for less than $150) and really give yourself accurate boost control.
