2000 ford econoline jerks

My 2000 Ford Econoline started jerking as I was driving. It jerks for a bit then the problem subsides and then starts again. It seems to do it more on an uphill, but if I give it a little more gas, the jerking eases up. When stopped in park and accelerating the engine, it does not appear to be jerking. I thought maybe it was bad gas but I only use Shell gas and I did not have this problem with my CHevy that I purchased gas from the same station the day before.

It does it more uphill because the engine needs more fuel. Its starving. How about replacing the fuel filter.

How do I troubleshoot a neutral safety switch on a 2000 Ford Econoline 150 van?

Try starting car in drive - it should not crank. Now put car in neutral and try to start -if it starts you know the switch is working. Conversely, if the car jerks in any gear when you attempt to start, the switch is fubar.

I have a 1988 Ford Econoline 150 and every time i accelerate it hesitates shifting into first gear and slightly jerks, does it need a flush? Or do the belts need tightened? Someone mentioned they could be...

Huh? Doesn't it start out from a stop in first gear? Flush what, what belts?

When you press the gas pedal all the way down, does the engine speed up quite a bit, or stay at a very low RPM?

Does the engine miss? When did you last do a tune up? How many miles on the van? How does it run once you have reached high speeds? Any other symptoms?

Not much information for us to go on.

98 ford e 150 van idles in park fine. But when accelerating, hesitates and jerks. changed fuel filter, but still jerks.

Did you try changing plugs and WIRES!! wires are the most common cause of this problem, under load if you have a bad cracked wire it will "leak" the spark causing a weaker spark there for making your spark at the plug weak not burning the entire charge in the cylinder. If this still doesn't solve your problem being the cheap way (im sure it may fix it) try by changing your coil packs let me know what happens. If all else fails you may have a sloppy injector
