I have a 2002 volkswagon jetta tdi! It was driving just fine, till the acceleration/turbo messed up! Everytime i push the gas pedal, it goes much slower, so not enough power, barley any! Turbo not kicking in! It was fine today, till 10 mins ago! What just happened?
I agree with the fuel filter-also under the air filter there is a screen that clogs sometimes cutting air flow. The assumption is that the air filter is not clogged. If it is near 100,000 and the intake has not been cleaned it could be clogged.

Don't know much about VW but if it's fine, and it doesn't happen again I wouldn't worry about it. If it does try resetting the ECU by removing the battery terminals and touching the positive lead(red wire) to the negative battery post. It might spark a little, this is just the capacitors discharging, resetting your ECU and starting over. It's like restarting your personal computer
[yes ]is the simple answer, a turbo starved of engine oil pressure even for a short period of time can blow the turbo; fit a new or a good second hand turbo.[hint]when testing a second turbo put your finger inside the turbo and spin it .a good turbo should spin quite easly for 3/4seconds with no noise.hope this helped you.adrian
