Check the left of the steering wheel, under instrument panel, for left fuse panel; additional fuses are located in the relay center, on the far right side below instrument panel.

As long as the tags on the trans have the same numbers yes, these transmisssions are electroniclly controlled and there are internal differences even though they may bolt up, there are ID tags on all transmissions sold by GM and installed on the production line.
