Maybe the shift valve in the valve body is sticking, or shifter adjustment? Might be wise to contact TCI.

The accelator cable is "Y" shaped. one side goes to the carb and the other to the tranmission. If you have the carb.side too tight it will give you the problem that you are having.

SOURCE: car idles low, stalls after start

Common issue at the shop (i'm a ford technician), here is what I do to correct it.
Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls at stops and low erratic idle speed and rough idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve (IAC for short), they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

Do you mean the tightness of the ball joint nuts? If you do use 55lbs, then tighten further if cotter pin hole does not line up. DON'T back off to get pin to go in!

SOURCE: 87 chevy truck with TBI idles too fast

Spray the intake with carb cleaner to find the vacuum leak. Check where the EGR mounts and the throttle body gasket sense you had both off.

What will make my 05 Dodge Magnum shift the first to second then go into third and it hit reverse

There could be several reasons why your 2005 Dodge Magnum is experiencing problems with shifting from second to third gear and then suddenly hitting reverse, including:
  1. Transmission Fluid Level: Low transmission fluid level can cause erratic shifting, slipping, or stalling in your vehicle. Make sure to check your transmission fluid level and add if necessary.
  2. Shift Solenoid: A faulty shift solenoid can cause problems with shifting in your transmission. The solenoids control the flow of transmission fluid through the valve body, which controls the shifting of gears. If the shift solenoid is failing or has failed, it can cause the transmission to slip, shift erratically, or get stuck in a gear.
  3. Transmission Pump: The transmission pump is responsible for pumping transmission fluid through the transmission and to the torque converter. If the pump is failing, it may not be able to pump fluid properly, leading to problems with shifting and slippage.
  4. Valve Body: The valve body controls the flow of transmission fluid through the transmission and directs the shifting of gears. If the valve body is failing, it can cause the transmission to shift erratically or get stuck in a gear.
  5. Transmission Control Module (TCM): The TCM is responsible for controlling the transmission's shifting and overall performance. If the TCM is failing, it can cause the transmission to shift erratically or get stuck in a gear.
It's best to have a qualified mechanic diagnose and repair the issue as they will have the necessary tools and expertise to properly diagnose and fix the issue.

1994 Chevy Camaro, 6 Cylinder, stalling problem

Try cleaning the throttle body and the idle speed control valve, they get full of sludge and this causes stalling. Use a product called CRC Throttle valve cleaner on both parts, DO NOT USE CARB CLEANER IT WILL RUIN THE PARTS.

Sounds like carburetor issues. Check your accelerator pump. Do you get a good stream when you throw the throttle open? On the stalling issue, the carb should have a dashpot that keeps the throttle from slamming shut.

98 Camaro 3.8 V6 stalls when started w/cold engine

Sounds like your throttle body and throttle plate are full of carbon. You also have a idle air control motor with a pintle on the end that gets carbon on them.Go to your local parts store and get a can of throttle body cleaner and a old tooth brush and clean throttle body and plate and if you can remove the IAC and clean the pintle and bore. that should take care of your stalling.

Volkswagen 01M torque converter stuck

You have to be very careful with input shaft rings. They like to eat into the pump stater. Also always buy new vb don't buy rebuilt because they only work 2 out of 5 times. I know this for experience
