Hi Anonymous, check the headlight relay under the bonnet in the relay compartment . Get a voltmeter or 12v probe tester and see if coil on relay gets 12v from the head light switch
If no voltage at relay coil then check switch and the fuse.
Charge light could be due to Alternator starting to fail or maybe loose belt to alternator. Or loose connection at alternator or at battery. Check wires along the circuit path and make sure everything is tight. As for gas gauge, you may have a bad sending unit which is usually IN the tank or a bad connection between the unit and the dash. I'm not aware of a working gauge being a necessity for passing emissions but maybe so.
Well it could be valves but it would run rough all the time if that were an issue. Could be a problem with the choke or something else with the carb. Is it difficult to start when the engine is warm and cold ?
cheap on ebay fuel pump in the gas tanks under rear seat, **** old gas out with a hand pump, can get one at harbor freight like $5 ON SALE. REUSE the float mech put new strainer.
i loved the old festivas but iam not sure about the speedo. but i think your sending unit whent bad on you for the gas gauge. but first check and make sure a wire didnt come off the sending unit at the fuel tank
