Question about 2004 Jaguar X-Type
On my way to work in my 2.0 deisel Jaguar Xtype the car suddenly lost power while on cruise doing 30 mph and the glow plug light started flashing. It did however re-start OK and I got to work. When I went to go out at lunchtime it wouldn't start anfd the glow plug light was flashing while the engine turned over, so I contacted the rescue service and by the time they arrived the car started OK. As it was intermittent I had it taken to a garage near my home where the day before I had the break pads and discs replaced. I wondered whether they had disturbed something when doing the work. On talking to them later I was told it won't communicate with their diagnostic machine so they are now checking the cabling around the socket.
The most common cause of that prob with xtype diesel is the hose going to the intercooler splits and leaks or the jubilee clip on the intercooler has corroded and broken allowing the hose to blow off not easy to get to to repair

I had the same problem and found that the PCV breather hose was leaking, creating the vacuum leak. The codes for the error have translated to "bank 1 too lean, and bank 2 too lean." Start with the PCV breather hose and see if that doesn't fix it. You will also have to reset the computer afterwards to get rid of the error.

PCV hose. I had the same problem...Hear air escaping from mine..I just put some hose tape over mine, and when I got the cruise not available and check engine again, sure enough..tape was coming off...replace the hose..problem solved.

need a local pair of ears to diagnose this ,it could be anything from a fan belt to water pump ,please remember this has jaguar on the paperwork but its a ford mondeo in a different shape body ,a true jag has a big petrol engine ,very high compression ratio with domed pistons ,manual gearbox and it can outrun a porsche or the old bill ,a east end of london proper boys car like ,know what i mean . And i have an old one XJ6 4ltr

If I am understanding your post, I believe you do have a levelling
system and it should be near your light switch on the dash. It is
the type of switch that you depress first, it then springs out and
you turn the small knob (just like your instrument panel lights
adjuster next to it.) What you do not have perhaps, if your car is
not fitted with HIDs (high intensity headlamps), is the automatic
levelling system which is a legal requirement when HIDs are fitted
due to the high power of the lights....
if you don't have a self-levelling system then you'll have a manual
system, operated by a knob under the light switch so that you can
adjust to compensate for a heavy load in the rear of the car.
