My A6 MMI has gone dead and Audi does not want to honor the warranty ( 4 yrs of 50K) . They state that something was spilled, but nothing was> I saw the part, it was clean then then they changed the story and said there was dust and hair in it. It cost $1400. Any others w/ malfunctioning MMI that Audi does not want to honor??

I have a brand new A6 and the MMI is not working. Keeps going on and off. After 4 trips to the dealer, Audi is still not owning up to the problem.

Same story with my 2009 Q7. The MMI started to reboot on it's own one day. It got worse and now only stays on for a few seconds, then off for a minute - very annoying.

The dealer said there looks like something was spilld - well that happened 6 months ago. I hardly believe i's related now and why would Audi engineers install an open computer, so susceptible to small spills right next to several cup holders? I bet they're actually protected (at least partially) from spills but they feel they can use center console spills as an excuse to charge another $900 to repair.

same for my 3 year old q7...the mmi sound goes on n off and all the dealer could say was the control not working and need about 1k to replace.

from what i see, there is a real problem w audi mmi ! Audi is not fixing it and causing real Unhappiness w customers like us!

Hi my MMI system on 2004 A6 asgone dead, no power

No solution, same problem, but had many strange moments: 4 months ago during 100 kms or so it stopped, then suddenly came back, and worked ever since. A few days ago, it started happening again: NAV stuck, then radio dead, and gradually the rest disappeared. I did a Reset, and since that moment I see the intro-screen and then it goes black. Hitting the TEL button is somehow also a Reset...

Do the previous 2 posters have anything to report on this matter? It would be VERY welcome!

Thanks,
Jeff

I've been having this problem also. I took it to the dealer and they had to load a new update for the mmi system. Luckily mine is covered under warranty.

The other solution is to turn the car off and disconect the car battery for 10 minutes-and then the mmi will reset itself. The problem, however, is that the issue will probably happen again.

MMI turns on then shuts down after about 30sec.

you nid mmi circuit board replaced, happened to me after spilling coffee, audi wanted to replace the whole thing with a new mmi system for a lot of money, but Ifound someone to change circuit board for abt £200 which is not bad,the only thing is you have to take out the whole centre console and air con unit and armrest off,so u nid some one who knows how to do it.check on tyresmoke and post from there, will respond and give you more info. The previous owner must have spilt something and panicked and sold the car without being honest. It sucks..........

Audi A8 2004 Main control on MMI will not funtion.

Try it, use rubbing alcohol and q tips to clean it all, you may need to clean the inside of the units as well.... Dip the q tip in the alcohol, do not pour the alcohol on the units.

Audi A6 Y. 2006

First push the setup button on the MMI control, and push the MMI button that corresponds to the word "settings" on the screen, and pick "time," push the master control to enter that mode, then turn the knob to change the time. Be sure to back out of the sequence properly or the clock reverts to the previous setting.
