Look at owners manual depending on the milage the maintence light goes on to remind you that certain items must be serviced. Do not take this reminder too lightly.

Maint. req. light blinks 10 times after start up?

When a Honda Maint Req light blinks, but then stops, it is telling you to change your oil. If you don't change it, eventually, the maint req light will stay on. Here is how you reset the maint req light: 1) Turn they key to the II position
2) Turn the key to the off position, and push and hold in the odometer reset button
3) Turn they key back to the II position, while still holding the odometer button.
4) After about 10-15 seconds, the light should go off.

If that doesn't work, try it this way: p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px Verdana}

With the igniition off, press and hold the odometer button, turn the key to the "on" position, but do not start the car. Keep the odometer button down until the oil light begins and ends flashing. Turn the key off, and then start car to see if it worked or not.

I have a Honda 2000 Odyssesy and the maintenance required light comes on and stays on. We recently changed the oil and filter. I do not notice any problems with the runnning of the vehicle. An auto part...

The maint req. light is a mileage counter. It will turn on every 7500 miles after it has been turned off because that is the factory recommended oil change interval. To turn off the light: with key off, push and hold the trip odometer reset button in. While still holding in the button, turn the key to on but not start. Continue holding the button in until the maint. req. light goes out. Turn key to off.

Code P1456: Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Control System leakage.
Code P0740: Transmission lock up control system.

the first code can be caused by a loose or non-factory fuel cap or a leak.
The second code indicates the transmission torque converter lock-up solenoid could be faulty.

Clear the codes and drive normally for several days. See if the Check Engine light comes on again. If so, have the codes read out and prepare for some repairs. If the light stays off, you had intermittent faults which occur from time to time and nothing is probably wrong.

How do you turn off the maintenance required light?

with the key off, hold in the trip odometer reset knob. Now, while still holding it in, turn the key to on and wait for the maint req. light to go out. When it goes out, release the knob and turn off key.
