Do you have 95 or 98 octane where you live? The airport? I'm sure it will burn just fine, most race cars use it, at $14 a gallon. I would run any gas in there as long as it didn't ping or knock. The book calls for 91 octane, and I just read an article that we are wasting our money on it, because if the lesser octane gas doesn't ping or knock, use it! Hope this helps.

Hi, I have a 2009 Husqvarna TE 250, spec states the engine as 12.9:1 compression ratio. The question I have, is what octane fuel rating is recommended for this bike? Thanks, Rob

91 or 95 octane is suitable for 9.5-10.5 ratios ( most engines)
for 12.9 you will find that it runs best on 98 octane
it may be good on 95 octane but generally the higher the compression ratio the higher octane rating
discuss the octane rating required with the bike service agent/service center

What petrol can i use for 2006 VZ? ULP or E10. Please advise thanks.

Do not use E10 or any other ethanol blends in your VZ Commodore.

Use only any of the 3 other unleaded fuels available which do not contain any ethanol - regular unleaded, the 95/96 octane or the 98 octane Premium.

Should I use 95 or 98 octain for my new GTI? Regards Gelfand

95 is recomended for all modern vehicles only use 98 for older vehicles that were designed for four star leaded fuel like any pre 92 vehicle in europe .You will not get any increase in performance from using this fuel as the flame rate across the piston is the same with all fuels its only the anti knock additive that denotes the fuel octane rating .Older cars had a lot higher compression ratio which required this higher rating ,like a MKII jag needs 5 star owing to high compression engine combined with the egg shaped piston to give it swirl which increases the efficiency

Can be used fuel90 for outlander 2005

No! the octane rating rating is far too low, even if you are living at over 2000 meters. You should be using nothing less than 95 octane and if you are at sea level you should be using 98 octane. 90 octane is going to damage your engine.

Gas octanes recomended. Here we have 93 , 95 , and 97 octanes

The higher the better. If your car is made for 93 you can without problem use 95 or 97 but if your car use 95 you soulden use fuel with lowe octane number such as 93 od 91 which you can still found in some countries.
In aurope there is no longer fuel lower then 95.
Higher te octan number better the fuel is, it burns faster cleaner and make more energie and can be more compressed.
My recomendation is 95 because it is most common but you can use 97 as well!!!

I am told the timing chains are loose. The engine makes almost pinging type noise when accellerating at low speeds or uphill. How is this fixed and at what cost? What if problem is left unresolved?

the engine is pinking thats all ,use a higher grade fuel ,it should run on 95 octane but try it on 98 octane and this will cure it .timing chains loose ?? i think this mechanic needs to go back to school

Whats the best grade of gas to use

95 octane premium is generally good for most cars, anything fuel injected i run on either that or 98 octane ultimate, id stick to the 95 for now and see how you go. 98 will give better performance and help keep the engine running smooth, helps clean carbon deposits etc may increase temp of car slightly but should be ok.

Premium 91 or 95

Hello Joshdhorz,

The best fuel you can use on your vehicle is any octane that contains at max 10% ethanol.

Ethanol is an alcohol-based fuel additive made by fermenting and distilling crops that have been broken down into simple sugars.

A 10% blend of ethanol and gasoline will not harm any engine or fuel system component. However, the ethanol has a cleaning effect that will remove rust and other junk from the fuel system. This necessitates frequent fuel filter changes until the fuel system is cleaned out.

Most gas stations in our area are set like so:

87 octane (Up to 10% ethanol)
89 octane (Up to 5% ethanol)
91 octane (No ethanol)

Now we do not have 93 or 95 octane available to us here, so I am currently unsure as to what is in 95 octane fuels. In my opinion, I would use 91 octane (No ethanol) for the majority, while adding 87 or 89 octane (5-10% ethanol) ever so often to clean the lines.

I hope this helps you out,

Shadow

Also if you would not mind taking a moment out of your day and rating my solution it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
