My ASR ligth keeps coming on and the cars slows

1) try to use the self diagnose.
2) place ignition swtuch in the start position, the lights coming on
3) engine starts, the brake light sould turn off inmediately. the ABS ligth will illuminate for aprox 6 seconds.
4) test drive the vehicle at speed above 20mph for a few minutes. during the test the both test lights should remain off, if any one of the warninign light utron, take note of the condition.
5) stop the vechicle using the braking pressure.both light should remain offf during the stopping procedure.
60 place the gear selector in to PARK, and observe the warning lights, they should both be off.

ASR means Acceleration Skid Control. It is not a problem.

Tire speed on each tire is checked if not the same the ASR kicks in and powers down the engine to stop you from sliding around. Check the wheel speed sensors to start.

based on the age of the vehicle most likley the ABS module failed. Only way to know for sure is to get it diagnosed. There is nothing you can do at home without the proper tools. And no way can anyone guess accurately without testing. Codes are needed to proceed.

The first thing to do is have the battery and the charging system checked,if the asr system detects less than 11.5 volts or loss of power it shuts down and turns light on,

Your ASR light is on for a reason, if it won't shut off with the switch it has been tripped by another system. Have your brake switch checked its on the back of the brake pedal. Next have ABS wheel checked. ASR was replaced by ESP and neither system can be shut off completely. If the ASR light is on there is an error it IS OFF.Hope this helps

yes they can but unlikely-more likely a bad over voltage relay(powers up idle speed computer) or wire harness-your vehicle is probably a hfm type fuel injection they changed from lh that year. find out if it is lh check the fuses in the base module located in the passenger side of the engine compartment under a cover held in by 4mm allen head bolts-alot of times these control units have intermittent contact with there connectors. asr stands for acceleration slip regulation-both isc and asr communicate via can system to monitor throttle position- ea isc cc-idle speed cruise control and electronic actuater(throttle)-hopefully i have helped

ABS--BAS

Most likely cause is the 'stop lamp switch'
It is a electric switch located on the brake pedal inside the car, about half way up on the brake pedal.
Pretty cheap too, I think the switch is only like $25 bucks.
2 connectors on the switch and then it turns out.

Sounds like water might be getting into your ditributor cap or plugs. Open up the distributor and see if there is any moisture. Sounds like the problem to me.

Try carefully topping up the brake fluid, this can happen when the level falls as the pads wear down especially when cornering
