My Ford windstar 2001 cruise control just stop working. it has 107,000 miles. Also, when driving the van sputters, it seem like the brake is being applied but continues to move.

have you done the proper services , like fuel, air filters, spark plugs at the specified miles? if so is teh check engine light on? if it is have it scan it will give the fault code.

Have vehicle scanned for codes . Sounds like your getting EGR at the wrong time.

It may be due to plugs, fuel filter, fuel pump, or mass airflow sensor. Is your check engine light on?

Check the switch, located on the brake pedel the stop light switch and the cruise control switch are on the brake pedel towards firewall. The cruise control switch is plastic.

this whine you hear does it cause you to loose power if it does have you ever change the transmission filter and trany oil it is supposed to be changed every 60,000 miles you can change it your self its is simple but messy so dont do it in your drive way

This sounds like a brake pedal deactivation switch, its located on the master cylinder. It is screwed in upside down and is likely to be leaking brake fluid. if so then replace and the problem is solved.

Check to see if your brake lights are staying on.
I thought my cruise control stopped working too, but realized that it would not work because the brake light control on the brake pedal was stuck.
I changed the $40 control and the cruise control works.

You have a blown fuse. The problem is that there is a cruise control deactivation switch on the master cylinder that gets brake fluid contaminated and shorts out. You will need a new switch and maybe the the connector.

check the relays in the fuse panel

The "door is locked" switch mechanism in the driver's door is not engaging when the door is closed. It is inside the door panel and right on the latch. It closes a circuot when the door is latched.

I was able to tighten the mounting on mine with some twist-wire and been right as rain for 3, 4 years now
