How can i bypass security on my 95 grand prix to get it to start

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

You'd need to put a resistor between the leads to the ignition tumbler. I've seen online instructions for that, but can't remember where....you need the correct resistor though as that's what triggers the security module. Have you tried re-setting it by leaving the key on for about 15 minutes (turn to on and off three times, leaving it on the third time) I put a jumper battery on it while doing that so it does not kill the battery.

If your car has a resistor pellet in the key (looks like a chip) there is a definitive solution. This was the only way I was able to save my beloved 94 Park Avenue with the exact same security system: http://newrockies.com/vatsbypass

2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GT won't start. Battery good. Replaced starter with brand new starter. Worked for a week. Now, won't start just like before starter was replaced. What could be wrong?

I had the same problem Its your security system failing it is really common in GM vehicles i guess. I took my car in and they wanted a ridiculous amount of money to fix it so i did some research and found a module that you can install yourself and it will bypassed it and i havent had a problem since the car starts every time and i did mine 5 years ago. they have great customer service and if for some reason it doesnt work they will refund you 100% of your money. I checked the list and your car in on there year make and model for the problem.. Hope this helps ya out

I lost key m potiac grand prix gt and cant start it

Your keys have chips in them, there is no bypass, you'll have to get at least 1 key programmed.

You can physically Hot wire it, but the theft system will stop you from driving it. You can read/learn about a bypass system here. http://www.diy-gm-security.com/

I purchased a key for my 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix from the dealership and have purchased 2 others previously and they worked. I followed the directions as I had in the past and this time the car will start...

In the ignition switch where the key goes is two little wires that when you put your key in completes the circuit and tells the security that it is your key. If you have someone pull the steering wheel and look where the two little wires are it is most likely that one of them is about to break. If you have the two wires clipped it will bypass the security and let you start it without a dealer key. The flip to this is the security light will stay on all the time. The only way to stop this is replace the ignition key switch or pull the bulb.

Need to bypass triad security system - car wont start

There are several configurations of the same security system. But one sure fire way to correct this issue is to get a bypass kit. Any shop that installs remote startups has the ability to bypass this system. Since the sytem measures the resitance of the key/lock and asociated wiring any shorting of those wires will make it very difficult to defaet without some expertise.

Sometimes the remote atart kit also includes the bypass, so you can get two for one here.

Good luck
