I have a 2006 Sorrento as well where the engine shuts down under acceleration or going up hills. had the fuel filter changed resolved the problem. Now 10 months after original problem has started happening again. Cause id the fuel tank liner delaminating and blocking the hoses and filter with the debris. Might be worth getting it checked
the alternator drive belt is in need of adjustment, one should adjust this after about 500 miles.take it back to the person who fitted it as its in the price.....(or it would be in England)
It is either the tesnioner or the belt....easy way to find out is to spray the pulley that has no grooves....that's the tensioner. Spray it with WD-40 or equivalent, in the middle of the pulley. That is the bearing housing. Spray only that first. Start the motor...if it goes away, then you have found your problem. Try not to spray the belt.
If it still squeals, spray the belt with the engine running. If it squeals, replace the belt.
Has anything been done to the motor recenlty? If so, one of the pulleys may be a little off-centered.
U may find that the negative battery cable has worn and it needs replacing. Check from battery down to the car cassie. That happened to me on my Nissan.
