Hyundai tiburon cd player power problems

I was putting in an aftermarket cd player one day and when i was installing it i used a wiring harness for a aftermarket cd player that i had already tried to put in but the screen didnt work on it so thats why i was putting another one in but i used the same wiring harness on the other cd player and it started smoking so i unhooked it. after that i realized that my cd player had no power and that my dome lights/door lights do not work. everything else in the car works but those. also when the key isnt on there is no power to the car for an example when the car is off i cannot turn on my hazard lights. really need help with this.

Changed Radio and now car won't start

What stereo did you use as a replacement? If you used a aftermarket (kenwood, sony, etc) cd player, you need to use the proper adapter harness. These cars have a build in theft deterrent system that involves the stereo. So, when you replace the stereo, a component of your anti theft system is missing. The use of the harness gets around this feature somehow, and allows you to use aftermarket CD players. Also, ensure that no wires are getting pinched behind the stereo, and that all your connections are soldered and shrink wrapped to avoid any future problems. I have provided a link for the correct adapter harness to your vehicle.

My boyfriend is trying to install a cd player in my '94 cougar and there's this big grey wire thats taped up with the smaller colored wires. he dicided to cut the little plug thng off of the grey wire and...

Generally, the way I put an aftermarket cd-player in, is to use a new 'harness adapter' that connects to the old harness and has all of the wires color coded and labeled for easy installation of a new radio using wire nuts. I wouldn't try to cut into the existing harness, without knowing what was what.

What's the 'little plug thing' off of the grey wire?

2001 hyundai sonata wiring diagram

You don't required to search for the wiring diaghram. These are standard in the wiring harness from the manufacturer. You need to look for the socket which may folded inside the console in front of you. Fix the audio in position and connect the cable socket for your new audio.

Yes, that would be fine, make sure you solder the wires and tape well or use shrink tube on the connections.

I have a 2003 tiburon and when you are going down the road it will just shut off and you have to stop and restart it can you help me.

I had this problem with my 2003 Tiburon SE. Dealer couldn't diagnose the problem - they said everything was working fine. By trial and error I discovered that when I disconnected my aftermarket CD player, the car was fine. Re-connect the CD player and the problem would occur intermittently.

I think the problem was that the CD player was drawing too much current from the car's electrical system, thus through the Body Control Module, or BCM. The BCM would overheat and shutdown, turning the engine off with it. Shutting off the ignition and re-starting the car would reset the BCM and all would be fine for a while.

Disconnect any aftermarket electronics you may be using (stereo, cell phone charger, etc...) and see if that helps.

Good luck.
