Electric fuel pump is in that gas tank. you can do this 2 ways. one is take the bed off. un hook all your wires and remove the bolts out of the bed then get 3 buddies and remove the bed. so you can get to the top of the tank to get the fuel pump. or you can get a floor jack and support the tank and remove the tank straps and slowly ease the tank down so you can unhook the wires and hoses. then remove the tank all the way and work on removing the pump.

SOURCE: I need to replace the fuel pump in my 1985 Chevy S10 Pickup.

EXACT PROCEDURE ! Please Rate Me Fairly for this!! Thank you And Good Luck !!

ELECTRIC PUMP

REMOVAL

  1. Before servicing the fuel pump the fuel system pressure must be relieved. See: Fuel Pressure Release
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Raise the car on a hoist.
  4. Remove the fuel tank. See Fuel Tank / Service and Repair.
  5. Remove the fuel tank sending unit and pump assembly by turning the cam lock ring counterclockwise. Lift assembly from the fuel tank.
  6. Pull the fuel pump up into the attaching hose while pulling outward away from the bottom support. Take care to prevent damage to the rubber insulator and strainer during removal. After the pump assembly is clear of the bottom support, pull the pump assembly out of the rubber connector for removal. NOTE: Inspect the fuel pump attaching hose for any signs of deterioration. Also check the rubber sound insulator at the bottom of the pump. Replace damaged or deteriorated parts.
INSTALLATION
  1. Push the fuel pump assembly into the attaching hose.
  2. Position the fuel tank sending unit and pump assembly into the fuel tank. Use a new "O" ring seal. NOTE: Care should be taken not to fold over or twist the strainer when installing the sending unit as this will restrict the flow of fuel. Also, verify that the strainer does not block the full travel of the float arm.
  3. Install cam lock over the assembly and lock by turning clockwise.
  4. Reinstall fuel tank.
MECHANICAL PUMP

REMOVAL and INSTALLATION

NOTE: To ease pump installation, rotate the camshaft so the camshaft eccentric is out of the way of the fuel pump rocker arm.

  1. Disconnect fuel lines from fuel pump.
  2. Remove fuel pump mounting bolts and the fuel pump.
  3. Remove all gasket material from the pump and block gasket surfaces. Apply sealer to both sides of new gasket.
  4. Position gasket on pump flange and hold pump in position against its mounting surface. Make sure rocker arm is riding on camshaft eccentric.
  5. Press pump tight against its mounting. Install retaining screws and tighten them alternately.
  6. Connect fuel lines. Then operate engine and check for leaks.

SOURCE: the fuel pump is direct wired to the fuse box and stays on after truck is running

It needs to be wired to the keyswitch.
You can also put a toggle switch inline, and turn it on and off manually.

P'up means pickup and is it USA spec car.
what engine is there
we had 4 engines then,. sold new. 2 gas, 2 diesel.
Gas.
the return line on all old loop fuel systems have and FPR in the line or just filter.
the check ball is inside the pump .
1: is turbo diesel too. see it here/ all 4.? we can;t guess engines
ever, be silly to try.
https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/isuzu,1986,pickup

must be 1.9L or 2.3L gas. not diesel right>?
yes both are still carb fuel then,.
some have 2 pumps, one in tank and 1 on side of engine off cam.
mechanical it. or 1 or the other.
some show and inline metal filter there.
my guess you have the mech pump off cam.
so that sure does have built end regulator.

2.5 to 4.5 pounds of pressure

3 pipes are IN, out to carb and return to tank
In to carb is the reg side.
the excess fuel via regulator goes to the fuel tank ruturn line
just like EFI injected engines do for decades.
modern cars the reg is in the tank at pump end. no return line.

How do i bleed the diesel on a 1990 isuzu rodeo jb1 4wd

1990 its an injector pump ,two bleed screws on the in jector pump, but it might have a auto bleed pipe, think it has so prime it with the hand pump then slacken the injector pipes on the injectors and assistant cranks ,never no more than 20secs so as not to overheat the motor ,then as one or the other shows fuel pumping up tighten it as you get to 2 or more it will start
