Your vehicle holds 5 to 5.5 quarts of transmission fluid. If you do not plan on replacing the dipstick you can drain the fluid from your tranny and replace it with 5.5 quarts of transmission fluid. I would recommend replacing the dipstick so you can determine the amount you have in your transmission.

Didn't pre fill trans and installed eveything is there a way to get fluid to it

Place a funnel in the dipstick hole of the transmission. It will need to be a fairly long funnel to ensure you do not overfill. Make sure your vehicle has a dip stick you check the transmission fluid . Do not put it in the hole you check the motor oil . If you find the right hole do not over fill and engine should be running idle while doing this NOT IN GEAR AND EMERGENCY BRAKE USED. May take three or four quarts of transmission fluid. Check every so often with your dip stick. Hope you car has a transmission dip stick. That is the only way I know and I have done it before.

My pontiac g6 was very low on transmission fluid, how much do i need to put in. The auto store guy said half a qt. Put half qt. In and transmission doesn't even shift out of first gear.

Step 1: Start your car and warm up the engine.

Step 2: With the engine running remove the transmission fluid dip stick, wipe off the fluid and reinsert.

Step 3: Remove the dip stick and check the fluid level.

Step 4: If it is low stop the engine and add about a cup of fluid using a funnel into the dip stick tube.

Step 5: Restart the engine and recheck the fluid level.

Continue filling and checking until the dip stick shows it is full on the stick. Do not guess as too much fluid can be as harmful as too little.

Checking transmission fluid

Cars these days have colored dip sticks. One is yellow and one is red. The red one would be your transmission dipstick. Check the transmission with the car running. If you are low. Get a funnel and put it where the dip stick came from and put some transmission fluid in it and put the dip stick back in the hole.

Need to know how to add the transmission fluid

Manual transmission is easy. There is a fill plug on the left axle flange and a drain plug on the bottom (special bit required).

The automatic must be filled while running so it really isn't a DIY.

Where do i put in transmission fluid

To prevent overfilling:
Turn on the engine and wait, making sure the engine has reached it's normal operating temperature.
With the engine running, and in Park:
Remove the Transmission Fluid Dip Stick and wipe clean. Reinsert the Dip Stick all the way in and Remove the Dip Stick again. Read the Dip Stick. With the engine at normal operating temperature: the fluid should be between the upper two holes. If not:
Leaving the Dip Stick out,
Insert a Funnel into the Dipstick Hole.
Pour ONLY about a cup (8ounces) at a time, wait for it to drain and remove the funnel, and recheck the level using the dipstick each time.
Do not overfill!

How to check transmission fluid and fill if nessesary.

if it is an automatic transmission, the dip stick is under the hood and should be on the drivers side of the engine, start the car leave it in park, pull the dip stick out and wipe it off with a cloth, reinstall the dip stick in the filler tube completely, and remove again and notice where the fluid level is on the dip stick,if you need to add fluid to bring it up to full, the correct fluid for your car is printed on the dip stick, you need a transmission funnel and put in in the tube you pulled the dip stick out of.
if you transmission is a standard, there is a 5/8 bolt on the side of the transmission you remove and put something like a screw driver in the hole to see where the fluid level is,.

How can i put transmission fluid into my car,how much do i put in

Check the Level of the transmission fluid by pulling the Transmission dip stick. The colour of the dip stick is most likely red in colour and you need to check it with the car's engine running and hot. Pull the dip stick out clean it off and check it again. always check the second reading.
To fill the transmission, you need to fill it through the Transmission dip stick tube. Yes your going to need a thin funnel and good luck. Do not over fill the transmission. over filling will cause damage to the transmission.
Best thing is, if you have not done a transmission oil and filter change. Have it done at a Transmission shop and you'll know that the transmission level is fine and have them show you have to check and fill the Transmission. As time goes by and mileage get's high, the fluid will get contaminated and the filter plugged up which would in turn cause a transmission failure.
Good luck and hope this helps. Oh and the type of transmission fluid should be in your manuel or stamped on the dip stick.

How do I add Transmission Fluid

If it's an automatic transmission, the place to fill it is the tube where the dip stick is, simply put a funnel in there and that's it.

Hope this helps
