7.3 powerstroke runs rough until it warms up a little bit then u can push throttle and it will smoke like crazy then take off and run great till next time it cools down and restart

I see these all the time. There is a good chance it is your ECU or depending on the year of your truck it could be your IDM (injector drive module) for earlier models or your FICM (fuel injector control module) for later models after about 2003. Scan for codes even if you dont have a check engine light on the dash. I can get much more detailed information if you are able to get me the codes (advanced auto or autozone scans for free) My company rebuilds these controllers every day. I will be happy to do yours if it turns out to be the problem. Typically the controllers are visible if you pop the hood, possibly mounted to the block or off to the side

What does the PCM due on a 2002 ford f250 super duty with v10 engine?

PCM is the Powertrain Control Module.. It controls the enigne and on some model vehicles the tranmission as well. Make sure whom ever is telling you what is bad is telling you the correct "computer" or "module" your 02 has the 7.3L in it and there is also an IDM that operates the injectors (Injector Driver Module) Newer years with the 6.0L engine have whats called a FICM instead of an IDM... Fuel Injection Control Module.

PO380 and p1316 what do thies coads mean.

P0380 - Glow Plug/Heater Circuit "A" Malfunction
Bad glow plug. The glow plug system is used to assist in providing the heat required to begin combustion during cold engine temperatures. The glow plugs are heated before and during cranking, as well as initial engine operation. The engine control module (ECM) controls the glow plug ON times by monitoring coolant temperature and glow plug voltage. The California Glow Plug system has eight individual glow plug supply circuits between the controller and the glow plugs. If the feedback voltage from the controller to the ECM is not within range, DTC P0380 will set.

- The glow plugs are commanded OFF and the glow plug feedback is more than 2 volts. or
- The glow plugs are commanded on and the glow plug feedback is not between 5 volts and 6.2 volts.

Keep in mind that the "wait to start" light only comes on while the voltage is dropping in that circuit. This should only take 3-5 sec's. If it takes longer, refer to your "Likely problem" you listed above. That would be the Heater Module. If your glo plugs stay on, your batteries would be dead in no time. If any of your plugs go bad, they would each be listed on the reader per cyl 1-8. If you need to change the Module,

P1316 - Injector Circuit / IDM Codes Detected.
This code indicates that codes are stored in the IDM

Possible causes are as follows:
- Injector(s) or circuit(s)
- Open or shorted IDM enable circuit
- Open/short in EF circuit
- Open/short in FDCS circuit
- IDM relay
- IDM powering circuits
- Failed IDM
- Failed PCM

Check your Injector Driver Module wires, circuits 821 (Brown/Orange) and 818 (Grey/White) between the PCM and IDM. On the IDM side, the connector pin numbers are 17 for circuit 821, and pin 4 for circuit 818. You should check for high resistance in that circuit, short to ground, or open circuits. If wiring checks out good, you may need to replace your IDM. It's not uncommon for water intrusion into the module, due to its mounting location. Also check the engine wiring harness where it routes up over the driver side shock and/or driver side valve cover. That code is either a key-on/engine-off or a continuous memory code.

Hope this helps (remember to rate this answer).

Ford f250 2002 idm relay clicking will not start

PCM maybe loosing voltage may have caused Engine control Fuse #22
to blow open. IDM injector Driver module could have loose or open harness connetors. IDM relays gets its ground thru the PCM ground circuit. When this happens it cycles the ground side of the relay trigger coil switch.

2002 ford f450 7.3 diesel runs ruff and has trouble code p1316 any ideas

P1316 Injector Circuit/IDM Codes Detected .....FJ9 DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) P1316 INDICATES THAT CODES ARE STORED IN THE IDM
Possible causes:
Injector(s) or circuit(s)
Open or shorted IDM enable circuit
Open/short in EF circuit
Open/short in FDCS circuit
IDM relay
IDM powering circuits
IDM
PCM
Check for other codes.
Key on, engine off.
Perform KOEO On-Demand Self Test.

This tells me that the IDM DOES store codes.
Trying to make sense of this. Which test will then give me the codes stored in the IDM? I am pretty sure we did the self test and did not get additional codes

I am fimiliar with the code 1668 but it doesn't mean that the IDM module has burned up. Please explain in more detail what is happening with this truck and I will be glad to try to help you fix it.
