You will have to split the ignition barrel, using either a hammer and small thin chisel or an old screw driver, if you split both side opposite the barrel will fall out, it will in some cases leave the barrel stalk in the black box (the electrical black plastic box at the other side of the barrel housing) to remove this turn with a screwdriver to either position 1 or position 2, at the front of the barrel housing is a release pin hole which will need a small allen key or pot rivet pushing into it to release the barrel stalk, remove with pliars or with flat blade screw drive, place key in new barrell hold thumb over secure pin holding it into the new barrel, then gently turn key 90 degrees, and offer into barrel housing, ensure the secure pin is at all time still into the barrel, slide the barrel into houseing slowly until you mate up the barrel stalk to the black box, and slide in until you hear the secure pin click into place, turn key back to zere and remove slowly, the new barrel is fitted. should take about an hour from start to finish, if it was not seized no more than 15 min to complete. hope this helps.

SOURCE: Key stuck in ignition -- cannot turn on or off.

lets start simple.get a can of silacone spray oil and spray into the switch and keep moving key and you will find this will reliese the key,if you need to remove the ign switch dont panic as its a simple enough job.Forget about steering wheel and whatever, simply remove the outer plastic cover then this exposes the switch at the back of switch is a plug with wires pull it away ,then below the key you should see a tiny screw undo, and make sure the steering lock is not under pressure,ie steering wheel free, when trying to remove switch move steering wheel back/forward and switch should pull out.good luck.adrian,,,,

SOURCE: ignition tumbler key

Place key into ignition, use a paper clip and press the tiny hole on the switch. Turn the key back towards ACC position and pull the cylinder right out. Reverse procedure to install.

disconnect negitive battery cable. Remove screws holding air bag to steer wheel. Disconect wires to air bag being. I must stop now. Playing with air bags can result in injury or death. You should have a shop do that for you. Sorry for not helping.

1975 dodge sportsman rv ignition tumbler removal and replacement

To replace the ignition tumbler in a 1975 Dodge Sportsman RV, you will need to follow these steps:
  1. Remove the steering column cover: Start by removing the screws or bolts that hold the steering column cover in place. Once the cover is removed, you should be able to access the ignition switch and tumbler.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connections: There should be two electrical connections that attach to the ignition switch. Disconnect these before attempting to remove the tumbler.
  3. Remove the retaining screw: Use a screwdriver to remove the retaining screw that holds the tumbler in place.
  4. Remove the tumbler: After removing the screw, the tumbler should slide out of the ignition switch.
  5. Install the new tumbler: Insert the new tumbler into the ignition switch, making sure it is securely in place.
  6. Reinstall the retaining screw: Use the screwdriver to reinstall the retaining screw.
  7. Reconnect the electrical connections: Reconnect the two electrical connections that you disconnected in step 2.
  8. Replace the steering column cover: Once everything is back in place, replace the steering column cover and secure it with the screws or bolts.
  9. Test the new tumbler: Finally, test the new tumbler to make sure it is working properly and that the RV starts and runs smoothly.

I suggest a locksmith be called in to remove the barrel
he will be able to supply a new barrel and cut the key to suit what you have and set the tumblers to the new key

Ignition switch diagram

IF you have a locksmith take it out it is possible that he may be able to repair the pins in the tumbler but I think the cost would be more than getting a new tumbler. If you use a locksmith then he can set the new tumbler pins so that you can use the old key and that will save you carrying extra keys unnecessarily.

How do you remove the ignition switch on a ford 250 1994 model?

Do you mean the key and tumbler, or the switch down on the bottom of the steering column? If you mean the switch, just lower your steering column by removing the cover at the bottom of the dash, and then remove the 2 bolts on either side of the column. The switch is near the base of the column, and the rod that runs from the ignition switch goes into it.
If you mean the key and tumbler, you have to pull the steering wheel, remove the screws from the signal cam, and then remove the locking bolt that holds the tumbler. You will need a steering wheel puller to remove the snap ring, and to reinstall.

My anti theft alarm goes off and makes it to where I can't start my car how do i bypass this

You can't do it; the Theft System it's integrated to the vehicle control computer ECU/PCM; you need install one INTERFACE to make this work.

Review this Wiring Diagram and this comment: when installing a 791 TRANSPONDER BYPASS System on this vehicle it will be necessary to remove the BOTTOM STEERING COLUMN Cover and IGNITION SWITCH TUMBLER to gan access to the Factory Transponder System around the Ignition Switch. To do so will require that you first look at the bottom of the STEERING COLUMN COVER to identify the screw holes from the IGNITION SWITCH TUMBLER RELEASE PIN HOLE, that is required to remove the Ignition Switch Tumbler, the IGNITION SWITCH RELEASE PIN HOLE is the SMALLEST Hole in the plastic cover in this picture. NOTE *** to remove the IGNITION SWITCH TUMBLER, a TORX #15 Bit on a Screw Driver will work just fine. Incert it up into this hole and press, at the same time, turning the IGNITION SWITCH ON and the Tumbler will pull out at the same time. This Must be done to remove the IGNITION SWITCH TUMBLER so that the BOTTOM Steering Column Cover can be removed to gain access to the TRANSPONDER SYSTEM built around the IGNITION SWITCH.

Also, its possible that you need other details from the Taurus's Owners Manual.

Hope helps.

Was replacing the ignition switch and accidently broke off a silver piece off of where the switch goes connected. Can you some one tell me if this can be replaced and if I have to replace the entire key...

Replacing An Ignition Switch..

If The Ignition Switch Is Defective, It Must Be Replaced Regardless. Before Removing A Dashboard-mounted Switch, The Tumbler (Lock Mechanism) Must Be Removed From The Switch.Normally A Small Piece Of Wire Is Inserted Into A Hole IN The Front Of The Switch And The Key Is Turned. This Will Release The Tumbler From The Switch So The Tumbler Can Be Pulled Free. Then Unplug The Wires And Remove The Old Switch.

A Steering Column-mounted Ignition Switch Is Separated From The Tumbler. It Is Normally About Halfway Down And On Top Of The Steering Column. To Remove This Type Of Switch, Remove The Fasteners Holding The Steering Column To The Dash. This Will Let The Column Drop Down So You Can Replace The Ignition Switch.

Pt cruiser turn key wont start nothing horn lights work battery ok

I had the same problem.does your key spring back? If it doesn't take out your tumbler remove your starter ignition switch, held on by one srew, remove top and bottom plasticcouple screws, two screws on top to remove blinker switchs and lights.under tumbler casing two small screws hold shift cble remove that and in between starter switch and tumbler the rest off your ignition. remove this at the more than likely at the end the soft metal has broken so instead off it having a square end it's rounded so it can't turn your ignition you will have to replsce that unit .goodluck It has been a real pain in the *** trying ti figure it out.
