I have a code P2238 toyota rav4 2004

Lead foot, tire pressures, stop /go driving. AC/poor compression, Trunk full of sandbags, transmission slipping, Wheel bearing friction, Brake shoe always on, etc.

Changed all vacuum lines including air intake hose truck still dies when temp at mid range with ac off. with ac on truck runs just barely should i kick up the idle and how do you do that ???

try by changing the coolant tempurature sensor. When this sensor malfunctions the symptoms range from poor engine performance to diminished fuel economy and engine shutdown. this sensor sends vital engine tempurature to computer,on most vehicles the check engine light will be on.

I have 3 codes from my scaner p2111 p2112 p2238

P2111 - Throttle Actuator Control System Stuck Open.
P2112 - Throttle Actuator Control System Stuck Closed.
P2238 - O2 Sensor Positive Current Control Circuit Low Bank 1 Sensor 1

For the P2111 & P2112 you will need to replace the throttle body this can be pricey since the TAC is built into it. Try cleaning it good and see what happens. This can also trigger the P2238 code if its dumping fuel.
For the P2238 check the connections on the o2 sensor or replace the upstream o2 sensor that should correct it.

P2238 = "O2S 1/1 positive current ckt low"

check O2 sensor for degraded performance or wiring to O2 sensor

Code # p2238 is for the air fuel sensor,you may have a bad sensor the one in the exhaust manifold.

Hi:

A friend of mine had the same code, and took it to the local Toyota dealer.
The fault code P2238 was still in the car's computer, but the check engine light was off. The service rep showed a the TSB that matches the P2238 code. They had to flash program the computer with new firmware. Fortunately for my friend, the TSB carried a 96-month, 80000-mile warranty for this repair so he did not have to pay anything to get it fixed.

Hi i have recently bought a rav 4 04 plate xt4 model the engine malfunction light keeps coming on and they gave me a code PO420 which is cat efficiency but the emmisions test came back fine would appreciate any advice as replacing this part is very expensive. thanks
