1998 lincoln mark viii steering wheel dont return

1998 lincoln mark viii steering wheel does not return after you turn driving . New Tires New Rotors New Brakes Allingment. Ball Joints are tight suspension feels good ??

The first thing to do is to make sure the steering is not binding up,like a balljoint or tierod , un hook the tierods and feel the turn of the wheel at the wheel not the steering wheel, make sure its not thight do the same on the other side,also take a good look at the shaft going to steering gear,ive found that the ujoints rust up and bind,causes wheel not to return, it could also be a leaking rack internally,start there, good luck.

the suspension compressor is located on the front corner, passenger side, under the air filter housing. It can be serviced and removed by taking off the passenger wheel and fender liner to get to it.

it is a known issue with Mark VIII's, second generations-there are numerous posts on Lincoln.org and tech articles covering this, and people who have them tend to disable working systems so that they don't break.

buy a set of factory manuals used. There is not just one picture.
the fuse box in the driving area is in the owners manual. The engine compartment diagram is in a book called Mark VIII Electrical Vacuum and Troubleshooting Manual.
