I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO REMOVE AND REPLACE FUEL PUMP ON 2003 NISSAN XTERRA ? HOW DO CONNECTORS COME APART ?

You have to remove or drop the fuel tank
All or most vehicle wire connectors have a
tab to press or lift to unlock
For the fuel lines you can get just a couple
release tools at most auto parts stores or online.
I would go to YOU TUBE VIDEO & watch first

2002 Nissan XTerra. Started and went to lunch. Got ready to go would turn over but not start. I'm thinking fuel pump?

Think smaller and work your way up! When was the last time your changed your fuel filter? Do you have spark at the plugs?

Sure you can shot gun it and start replacing parts, and you might be right about the fuel pump if it has acted like fuel deprovation before (fuel pumps usually give some indication before they completly fail), but it is better to spend a little time troubleshooting and replace the right part!

You could pull the fuel line and see if it is pumping or not.

How to check fuel pump pressure on 2005 xterra

Hi,

Improve the Fixya.com experience for everyone by voting!

The following is the cheapest and easiest way to check your fuel pressure and it's a five minute job.
  • Check the fuel pressure with a loaner fuel pressure gauge from AutoZone. It's FREE and comes with full instructions
  • Your reading should be 40-45 PSI and holding steady.
  • Contaminated fuel is a constant problem and if the pressure does not hold steady, replace the fuel filter.
Additional Checks:

  • Make certain that the engine thermostat is functioning and is the correct temperature.
  • Make certain that the alternator voltage output is not less than 9 volts nor more than 17 volts.

All the best

2005 Nissan Xterra gas gauge reads empty when full of gas.

Sending unit died. can be expencive to replace since most sending units are integral with the fuel pump now. lots of labor too. Better to use the trip odometer till you can afford a day without your car and a $600.00 +labor repair bill.

2002 Xterra fuel pump replacement

No, like others said, there's an access plate under the rear seats. Most imports (Honda, Toyota, Nissan) have this access plate to get to the pump. Some domestics don't (90's Camaros etc)
