I have a 2005 Ford Escape, and each time I drive it on the highway for forty or fifty miles it wants to die when I come to a stop. It never does this on short trips or driving around town.

If you have access to a lift put it on and look at the area where the noise is coming from if you have a small camera try and put it somewhere you may be able to see what it is doing.

have the check engine light checked at a parts store its usuall free. I would bet its the idle air control motor. This controls the fuel air mixture at idle

GONNA NEED TO REPLACE THE TRANS. SORRY

idle control valve is going bad also the MAF sensor may be clogged alumminum piece between air cleaner box and throttle body

1st do u have an engine light on, if not, do not replace the O2 sensor.
When was the last time u replace the fuel filter?

Take it to an auto repair shop and explain your problem. They will have the right tools and/or information.
